8.5.3 on old XP laptop with Presonus 22vsl crackles and more
Hi Gang...
Just me again... Currently trying to make an old laptop useful to me while I have no electric...
Both the cup and drive meters are running evenly in the 15% range.
Using the WDM driver, I get crackles, pops, and bits of distortion no matter how high I raise the latency with as little as a single stereo audio track trying to playback... Media player plays the same file with no problem...?
This is running at 44.1...
I try to switch to ASIO hoping it's better suited as I believe the Presonus ASIO driver has always been "better" than their WDM...
All other settings remain the same...
Close sonar
I open the 22vsl's panel and I have it set to 44.1 512 on the ASIO...
Then I re-open Sonar and start a new file
I import a 44.1 stereo file to the empty audio track
When I hit play I get a warning that the settings are incompatible...
I double check the Sonar settings and all is correctly showing ASIO and 44.1
I open th 22vsl app and I see it has been switched to 96
Repeatedly resetting this to 44.1 as I continue to get the same message and find the ASIO app keeps resetting to 96... No matter what sequence of open/set/close I attempt...
So I tried setting the sample rate in Sonar to 96k which appears to be supported when the wav profiler runs for WDM and I continue to get incompatible settings warning and no playback.
Switching back to WDM works but with the above mentioned WDM issues...
What am I missing? I know that XP is old, but I'm using the driver that Presonus offers for XP...
I am grateful for any thoughts you care to offer... Yes, buy things or get my electricity on would solve it as I could return to the land of humans. Too bad being broke is a quantum step UP from where I am right now and I seriously need to get my head immersed in some music and away from reality before I go over the edge! ;-)
Thanks...
Keni
