Kudos to Cakewalk, and others

It feels like I always come here to complain about something, giving CW a hard time about something or another. So I felt like I really have to give credit where credit is due...

Sonar Platinum is a fantastic release. Especially compared to say the X1 release. There are still issues but this is one of the few releases where there don't appear to be any major regressions (for me at least), so two thumbs up from me.

Also, I'm loving Addictive Drums 2. The Indie Kit sounds fantastic. AD 2 feels like a high quality, highly polished product. I opted for Fairfax Vol 1, Indie and Studio Rock, and feel that alone justifies the $149 for the upgrade price.

I really feel CW is moving in the right direction with Sonar. Once again, great job!

Agreed, so far - I haven't dug deep yet but the first impressions are of a very solid, stable, mature platform, building on the already excellent base of X3. I also think the new model (whatever you want to call it) is really well thought out, and despite the initial rash of adverse reactions to it, mostly baseless from what I can tell, I think it will play out well for them - and for us - in the long term. I'm sure they were expecting some turbulence over it, but hopefully we'll get through that phase soon. For me it was also the cheapest upgrade in a while (I got the JRR group discount before it disappeared) and that without waiting until the late-cycle sales, so I'm basically pretty pleased. Not to mention excited about upcoming additions...

I also think AD2 looks pretty robust and sounds great - I got the Indie kit, plus Funk and Session Percussion. Tough choice but those were the ones that jumped out at me from the audio demos, as being likely the most use to me in terms of what I do. Nice to have some choice in the matter, rather than one-size-fits-all as in AD1 and most such products. Quality over quantity, what?

So yeah, nice work bakers! Looking forward to getting deeper into it over the coming weeks!

So far, I'm liking Platinum. No crashes yet. Only hiccup was I had to restart the vst scan once. I like the improvements like in the fx bin and the custom toolbar thing. I haven't tried AD2 yet. Got it and my kits installed though. I got Session percussion, Studio Prog and Fairfax 1.

As of now, I'm a happy customer.

I would really like to see a list of bug fixes and enhancements.
There is something changed with the way display handling works.
I have 3 monitors and X3E projects do not open with the same layout.
I cannot get projects to save the layout using X3E method.
I need to lock the screenset which  I never had to do in X3E.
I think it has something to do with mods that relate to reusing plugs.
I am not saying it is broken, just different and it would be nice to know exactly why.

Thanks Cakewalk. This is a very stable release and I love the membership model. 👍
