Staff View question in Professional, please advise

I really, really hope someone can verify to me that this is user error and not expected behavior.  I have Sonar X2, and just purchased one month of Sonar Professional (X4?) last night to try it out.  I use the staff view extensively.

The issue:  When middle-clicking in Professional in the staff view to bring up the editing context menu, clicking on the duration drop down does nothing and the context menu disappears.  No note duration list.  I will refrain from the rant I had prepared and simply ask if this list was removed sometime after X2.  If it was, I would like some guidance on how to choose note durations (other than binding keys to them).

On my system X2 and Sonar Plat.--staff view acts exactly the same.  I use a trackball for a mouse.  When I left-click the smart tool shows up and I can choose a duration, then drop in notes on the staff.  Right-click and note properties will show up on a highlighted note.

I see no difference between X2 and the new version.

...but that doesn't mean cake should not upgrade the staff view.

Hi JF,

To evoke the duration list in the tool pallet HUD, click and hold the duration button rather than a single click. Since this is a HUD control a single click is being interpreted as a click away to close the HUD.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!
