New track, Peshga

Newest track online. I used Sonar X1. Comments welcome. I used headphones while mixing because my monitors are atm unavailable.

Gave me an elevator vibe with all of the synths and pads and voice patches. It cries out for more variety.

Thanks for the comment. I will make changes to the chorus and perhaps to the verse also.

It has a very new age vibe sort of thing that would sit well over/under a documentary or scenic video.

Thanks for your comment John. The new age vibe is unintentional, but sounds like a nice compliment:)

It is a compliment coming from Wookie.

I liked it. The downside to mixing in cans, as I'm sure you're aware, is it's so hard to gauge the low end of the spectrum. This one could use a little more beef down there, mostly in the 90-150Hz range I'm guessing. A stronger, better-defined kick could be all it needs.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thanks for the comment Dave. I have noticed it is difficult to mix with cans. I will try to fix things.

Nice one kakku.  I might suggest possibly backing off a little on the background pads, and making them sound a bit more "airy", rather than so dominant.  If you're going to add more bottom end as bitflipper suggested (and I agree), maybe add it to the drums, rather than the synths.

Thanks for the comment Walt. I must admit I don't know how to make the pads air like but I will try to make some changes to the whole product when I return from my current 'there is not a single working computer here' h**l.

Another cool song. When it first started I thought it sounded like an old song by The Cars. I'll tell you, with some lyrics you could have some pretty cool retro sounding pop songs. I mean all of that as a compliment.

Thanks Clint. It is nice to hear such compliments especially because I like retro music. I am a bit retro myself. Making lyrics is probably very hard so I am unsure if I will ever make them.

I like Walt's comments regarding some of the synth sounds, they seem a little upfront and overpowering in spots. Having said that, they are a major part of what happening in the song, so by taking them down, the song would lose some what it is its strength. It's a tough choice to make, whether to bring those sounds down or take them back in the mix, and risk losing what the makes the song in the first place. In the end it's about what you want to hear in the song and how it effects you as a listener. I also find that it becomes harder to make those mix decisions the more you listen to the song, your ears become numb to your changes. I always find it advantageous to leave the song and come back to it in a few days. I also like to put the song in the middle of a playlist and listen to it in context with other songs in a different environment like your living room or the car.
The drums could be louder for me, I feel like they kind of get lost in the background. The song is quite rhythm driven and would be best served by a strong drum track.
Hope some of these comments can help.

Thank you Wayne for taking the time to write such a nice and should I say instructive comment. The mix is not ready yet. It sounds different now than it sounded in the daw. Also I had trouble with Halion Sonic when I was doing the tune. It crashed Sonar often so I had to remove it. Now later I have updated HS so I can probably put it back. I used it to play guitar strumming. I will probably put the choir sounds only into the chorus parts. I also need to fix the drums.
