Ha screw you Best Buy!

My laser printer also fried during the recent power surge I mentioned on here a while ago. I was pretty bummed about it until I fished out the receipt and discovered that by some wild miracle or uncharacteristic spasm of responsibility and forward thinking, I had purchased "Geek Squad" damage protection for it. So I hauled the thing back to Best Buy today.

The thing originally cost me $120 (yeah I really push the boat out when it comes to printers, no expense spared) but they told me they didn't carry that line anymore. Instead, they gave me store credit for the next model up which was $170. Score! I got store credit and was told to hot foot it to another Best Buy location because that one didn't have any in stock. Luckily it was only a short subway ride. Got there to find out that they have reduced the model in question to $110. So not only did I get a better printer but I'm also up $60 on the deal. That'll teach them to mess with me!

Believe it or not there's more! When the guy at Best Buy was processing my purchase and handing me my receipt, he said "oh let me get you that gift card" and went away for a minute before coming back and handing me a piece of cardboard with a plastic card inside. I wondered what in the hell that was for, put it in my bag and forgot about it. Just remembered that I had it tonight, so I went onto the Best Buy website and entered the code on the card. It's $30! Why on earth they were giving me an extra $30 is beyond me, but I'm not complaining. So in all, I've ended up $90 richer with a better printer. I'm hoping that covers the cost to ship my blown monitors back to Equator Audio.
