[Implemented] - PRV with Drum Map shows Key Pane when note clicked

I've edited the subject title to remove [CWBRN-31100]. When somebody else confirms it is an issue here we can put it back in. It just helps us sort out the threads in these forums this way.

When I get back to the studio I'll review my steps and see if I can work up a more comprehensive "first principles" repro sequence.

Sure, but they are in the problem report I originally filled out, CWBRN-31100. (I'll have to check when I get back into the studio tonight.) I appreciate what you're doing, Alex, but can you set us straight on what the official and recommended process is for logging problem is?
 
Do we come here first and document the steps, and only submit a problem report using the Cakewalk Reporter app when we get some confirmation? I thought it was the other way around, is all.
 
I will post exact steps here later tonight.

Steps to reproduce:

• new project
• add instance of Session Drummer (stereo output, midi track)
• change the output of the MIDI track (track 2) to New Drum Map > Session Drummer
• Should say "4-DM1-Session Drummer 2"
• CLone the MIDI track #2 twice
• Color the three MIDI tracks differently for clarity
• Add a clip of MIDI notes to each track
• Select all three tracks and choose View > Piano Roll
• Select one of the tracks
• Resize the Note Pane so that it is not visible

 
Now:

• Either click on a note from other than the currently selected track (e.g. the RED one), or
• Select a different track in the right-hand side Track Pane (Blue or Red)

Result:
Note Pane reappears, even if it covers the note you just clicked on. Any time you change tracks (perhaps by clicking in the Track View) the Note pane will re-appear.

Without getting too complicated, yes, changing the focused track, either by clicking in the tracks pane or by selecting a note on a different track, resets keyboard pane, controller pane and potentially drum pane dividers to their last saved position. "Last saved" can mean any of:
 
1. You saved the project.
2. You set the pane dividers with the PRV undocked and unfloated (i.e. MDI mode window)
3. You closed the PRV after making changes to dividers and opened a new one.
 
There may be some additional complications/exceptions to this (for example, the keyboard pane resets on the first focus change, but the controller pane doesn't reset until the second focus change), but that's been my general observation.
 
All this assumes the tracks are not in folders which can interfere with focus changes, potentially complicating this issue.

Yes, confirmed. Also I'm finding this one is hard to fix by any of the methods I outlined, but I have some projects with drum mapped tracks that don't exhibit this problem, so it must be possible.
 
And be aware that the exact result you get will vary with the resolution of your monitor.
 
 

I can confirm that this is fixed in the SONAR 2015.02 "Braintree" update.
