Be aware of the membership pricing after your twelve months is up!

"Be aware of the membership pricing after your twelve months is up", so it says in 'MusicTech Magazine' on Mon, Jan 19th, 2015.
I must admit, I'm a little sceptical about the pricing and the issue of having to enrol as a member to obtain already paid for "upcoming free content updates".  I just want to buy my DAW and as before download any patches/fixes etc until the next Sonar Platinum 2. XX5 or whatever name is given to it.
"There's no more waiting a year or more for the next paid SONAR upgrade", are Cakewalk saying that they kept us waiting in previous years for upgrades?  If they did, I don't think I want to give them any more of my business.
"Best of all, after 12 months of SONAR membership you get to keep everything you've received - even if you choose not to renew".  Well, that's kind of them, seeing that loyal punters have already paid up front or monthly for the privilege! Also, those who pay monthly are paying much more for their 12 months membership - as 12 X £49.99 = 599.88 as opposed to $499 upfront.  £100 dollars more for those of you in the USA, a bit steep me thinks.
I must admit, I do like the look and new features of Sonar Platinum, but not the new setup.
There are other issues and loose ends I'm not happy with, but what to do - look at other DAWs, it has crossed my mind and something for me to ponder over the next few days.

Sorry, we've been over this enough.  You're not saying anything that hasn't been said in dozens of threads already.

I realize this thread was locked, but I have a follow-up.

I ran into the folks from MusicTech at NAMM. They agreed it was a mischaracterization, and will be changing that comment.

They will also be publishing a clarification of how membership works because they want to publish factual information.

They have the integrity to admit they were wrong. Do you?
