Is there a way to delete from the soft synth menu?
I've got 3 Kontack's of the same version listed under soft synth/vst2 menu and another version that doesn't even work under the directX menu. I only need one so is there a way for me to delete the other 3 from the menu. I'm running Professional
Gary, When you appreciate what you have, you have a lot more.

The 3 different Kontakts are stereo, 8 outputs and 16 outputs, you can see this when you actually look at the dlls. So they each have their own uses depending on how many outputs you require. As to hiding plugins not being used in the plugin menu there is a selection of 2 check boxes that allow to enable and disable plugins. It can be reversed if you later decide to include it again.
As far as A DX version of Kontakt i don't remember there being one. Unless there was an option to install a DX version of Kontakt and you said yes.

To prevent a plug-in from displaying in SONAR select the plug-in and click the "Exclude Plug-in" button in the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager.

Maybe you should try going into Plugin Manager and 'exclude' the ones you don't want to see. Kontakt shows up in many flavors depending on the -ins and outs- It is built that way. You can simply exclude(hide)the ones you don't want to use and not destroy the installation. Hey, you guys got me as I was typing. But great to reinforce anyway.............

A Custom plug-in layout would also solve the display issue.

Yes but they only show as being Kontakt in the plugin manager so the question is why? I ask that as in another DAW the plugin plus the outputs are shown so why not in Sonar. Secondly is it possible to rename them?

You can change this in preferences/file/initialization file by adding the setting vstpluginnameformat with a value other than 0. http://www.cakewalk.com/D...;help=INI_Files.4.html

Thanks for the help, All three Knotackt 5's under vst's had the exact same name so i changed two of the name's according to their .dll file so i know which one is 8 or 16. When I insert either one they all look the same so i didn't know there was a difference. As for the other Kontack II that shows up under DirectX I can't find it anywhere in the plug in manager to delete. That is the Kontackt that doesn't work anyways so I just want to get rid of it.

swamptooth Nope not in spain though I do love good tapas! It's actually pretty easy - here's a link with instructions

Thanks for that much appreciated I'll give it a shot.
This is not a registry hack kind of thing, nothing to be concerned about. I don't live in Southern Spain but when you have a hit record, I'd gladly accept an all-expenses-paid trip to help you as much as you want!
