Problem with flat note style for small height in PRV

In the two smallest heights in PRV, notes have no more 3D style in Sonar, they are just unicolored squares. This makes it impossible to distiguish between notes that follow without gap on the same pitch. They just look like one long note now. The same holds for the three smallest heights in the drum area of PRV. Another problem with the flat style is that overlapping notes can not be recognized without the border.

In X3, the ends were round resulting in a small gap at the top and bottom for notes without gap. This was visible even for the smallest height. And the now 2nd smallest size had the 3D style in X3. Just having it like it was in X3 would solve the problem.

To reprodce the problem, simply draw some notes without space inbetween in the PRV, and then reduce the height.

Are you saying this is a Platinum issue?
A screenshot may be a good idea, ideally showing both versions.
    Cheers..

    Well, it's a SONAR 2015 problem.
    Here's SONAR 2015:

And even worse in the piano area for equal velocities:

I'm currently doing my MIDI drum editing in X3 because of this and other PRV issues in Platinum.

I've noticed this too. I must say it's a step backward. Bring back the X3 style, please.

Do you think this is intentional? And if so why?

The PRV Enhancement page says this:
"Note event corners are rounded when zoomed in, and become angular when zoomed out."

    Hi-

Does anyone know why this is considered an "enhancement"? I agree that the note separation is much clearer with rounded edges. Is there some benefit to the new way that I'm not seeing?

    Thanks-

There was always a point at which the note rounding and outlining disappeared as you zoomed out. I think it's just happening one level sooner than it used to. What that zoom level looks like in absolute terms is going to depend on your monitor size and resolution. it's hard to say how much the change is just a side-effect of changing the PRV zoom range vs. being a deliberate choice to accommodate the ever-increasing average size and resolution of monitors.

Even an outline around each note, as was the case before, would be better.

I'm not sure what to do with this thread. Enhancement or bug.... you decide....
I think it would be nice for Cakewalk to chirp in at this point.

It's not a bug, just a bad design decision. It's listed under new features as an enhancement, but it definitely is a regression compared to how it was before.
