Nice song, great energy in the guitars in particular.
Percussion is a nice choice, and I do like your vocals.
It's great to hear good music being produced in software that's considered by many to be not up to scratch in today's 'gotta have the latest update, world'.

Hey, Rob, I don't think I've heard this one.  Is that possible?  I like it.  I just got a couple new mics to work on my acoustic recording.  This is a super well done production.  The bass track is wonderful.  Everything else is too, but I tend to focus on bass the first couple times through.  I really like this one, buddy!!  Think I'll listen again.

    hey warren!

you know, this one is on my "The Time is Magic" album,
the one that 'bat's blues' is on.....
    LOL

so, as far as production on this,
    it is dirt simple.

    one mic, per track.

typically, it is either a AT4033, or a ADK Hamburg, pointed at the point where the neck joins the body,
and in the cans, i move around until i hear the sound i want, then i freeze.

    heheh

i set the gain on the mic pre pretty hot,
run that signal into a DBX compressor,
    just kissing the peaks,
it adds a lot of color,
    that's why i use it.
out of the DBX and into the sound card.

otherwise, i could just as easily set the gain low, and apply compression in the box,
but that's not nearly as fun!

    LOL

    and it's non-committal...

    i like commitment.

the bass, is my Carvin LB70, direct into a Sansamp Bass DI, with a little drive on it,
again into the DBX, and into the soundcard directly.

You know, I feel so stone age because I don't understand what you guys talk about on these settings, etc.  I plug the bass into a JDI Radial DI and into a 1 channel mixer (Berringer) and into the interface.  I really should put more time into understanding this stuff.  I pretty much worry about writing and am lucky to have Mark mix and fix everything.  I have the Time Is Magic CD so maybe I need to listen again.  I have , I think, 4 songs on my mp3 player for the mountain and gym.  Loves those "BatsBlues".  and YES, IT NEEDED TO BE BUMPED!  You know, it's funny how few comments songs get on here anymore.  A lot of people but only a handful take time to comment on songs.  Ahhhhh, maybe I'm wrong.  Whaaaaaaattt?

    Nothing,man. It just glides.
Tight performance, good vocals, awesome tone on the guitars.

Yes, it is. Great energy, nice pickin'. Is there some kind of "preverb" as the vocal sweeps in? Sounds great, whatever it is. You managed to play like a jazz virtuoso and still make a rockin' record. Slick!

As per usual, top notch delivery and production. Great guitar riff, plenty of energy.

You know I enjoy your tunes.... this is no exception...  so as the song was ending, I went downstairs for a few minutes and came back up to hear Interstate Sun..... that is one of my favorite DP songs of all time....and they have a lot of really, really good stuff..... your cover is impeccable. As good or better (dare I say that?) than the band itself.

I saw DP one time.... after Blackmore left. Bolan was on guitar that evening.

Bat, you are totally dialed in on this mix. I've listened to it six times +, listening for some small hiccup.
    Nothing,man. It just glides.
Tight performance, good vocals, awesome tone on the guitars.
I really like that Knopfleresque riff at 3:29.
    Nicely done.

    thanks robert!
    knopfler, he's so good.
    i dig his stuff.

This is your usual brilliant production. As always, I tend to use your productions as a kind of template for my own. Keep on inspiring!

    production templates!!! alright!
LOL, well, on second thought, maybe you shouldn't use mine!
    might lead you astray.....

driving and laid back at the same time

Yes, I like how you held it in check, really got a nice tension going there. Another fine track Bats, happened to have my LP strapped on so I was jamming along

    that's so cool james,
if it makes you want to play along, rock on.
    thanks for listening

    Beagle
Gonzo man love that intro!  loved that acoustic sound!

this one reminded me of an old Yes song!  nice work

    thanks beagle,
i can't imagine which yes song it would be,
but that's cool that it reminds you of something that cool,
i dig the early old yes stuff, anything prior to DRAMA......

figure this is worth at least one bump.....

Yes, it is. Great energy, nice pickin'. Is there some kind of "preverb" as the vocal sweeps in? Sounds great, whatever it is. You managed to play like a jazz virtuoso and still make a rockin' record. Slick!

    heheh, thanks larry....
    i appreciate that sentiment!

the effect, is actually a vocal track, copied and reversed, and shifted and blended in just as the first regular vocal kicks in.....
    it worked like a charm.
and this is an easy thing to do....

    whack
my favourite part was the reversed cymbal effect at the start!

As per usual, top notch delivery and production. Great guitar riff, plenty of energy.

    whack,
i don't think there is any percussion or cymbal in that effect,
    it's all reversed vocal,
i had to find a point at the end of that first word,
to get that 'attack' part of the wav file,
so it almost sounds like the edge of a stick on a cymbal....
    thanks for listening
