[Solved] Sonar Platinum Install Still Not Working

Hmm...

No complaint as of yet - but after two weeks I'm still not getting Platinum to properly install.  Rather than listing all of the issues at once, let me see if y'all can guide me to a baseline to start from in a Platinum install:

Here's my specifics and my 'baseline' problems so far

#1 Win7 64 bit Ultimate - running 8.5.3 and a bunch of other audio / video products perfectly
#2 Upgraded to Platinum - Installed 'All'
#3 Had enough substantial problems that I did a complete uninstall and removed all residual Platinum entries in my registry
#4 Did Platinum only install today and here is what I have

A. After Platinum loads. any Recent Project that I opened and saved will not appear in the Quick Start Dialog Box, and the Recent Files menu item is greyed out in the Files Menu.  Fairly annoying
B. The DX plugin Lexicon Pantheon is not available.  I have another thread in the forum about that and I plan to attack that issue separately thanks to the input of the folks in that thread
C. When I exit Platinum, I can't restart it because the sonarPLT.exe process lingers preventing me from reloading unless I manually stop that process.

Anyone who was following my Lexicon thread knows I've seen other issues that I am going to now knock off one by one in serial fashion after I get this baseline install to work.  So …. does anyone have any ideas on why my recent files and the lingering process are happening?  I plan to work through today to get these issues solved and then move forward with the remaining installations.  All assistance is greatly appreciated!

Thx

"A" is probably related to "C". If SONAR is not able to close properly it may not get a chance to update the recently used list.
"B" would be true of any version of SONAR after 8.5 and the fix is discussed in the other thread.
"C" is usually the result of SONAR waiting on the audio interface driver or a misbehaving 32bit plug-in causing Bitbridge to hang on exit.

Success on several fronts and I hope my experience will benefit some others!   As always No Complaint is a great place to start from.  Here are my steps to solution:

#1 Ran Command Center 'As Administrator' and did complete uninstall of all Platinum Products
#2 Reboot and Ran Command Center 'As Administrator' and only installed Platinum
#3 First launch of Platinum ran 'As Administrator'
#4 When greated with the dialog box to migrate user settings I hit CANCEL (probably should read as 'No' since Cancel implied to me the program launch would abort - small sugestion)
#5 When I hit cancel, Platinum ran and the plugin scan went from looking like the classic center of the screen 'file by file' small dialog box to the new blue background indicator in the lower right of the screen.

Platinum loaded fine and now will start and stop like normal.  Also my recent files list has been returned AND to make my day … I got out my retro Sonar Producer 8 DVD (PM me if you don't know what a DVD is) did a custom install of 64 bit Lexicon Pantheon only and now it is part of my default plugin set.

There is about 7 inches of snow headed to Western PA so I have a bunch of time to install all of the other 'goodies'

Hope this helps someone!

Are you running the Command Center as an administrator? Is Sonar Platinum also run with administrator rights?

What are you using for your audio interface and do you have any MIDI ports connected? Is your graphics card up to date with the latest drivers?

I have Sonar Platinum running on an old core 2 duo 2.58 gHz with just 2 GB of memory and Win 7 32 bit. It runs great on it. Its also on my custom built desktop running Win 8.1 64 bits. And runs very well.

I am so sorry you are having a difficult time with it Don. It was a breeze  for me to install.

Best

J:
My user is running as a full admininistrator- but I remembered from the old days we had an issue with Sonar First Launches that even if your user was Admin, 'Running As Administrator' the first time made a difference.  I don't remember the core reason for that, but it nailed my install fine this time.

WRT my Interface - Focusrite Saffire PRO-40, I have a bunch of interfaces but that is the only one on this system.  No obvious problems with it ever, and the MIDI ports are enabled in Sonar.  Great question about the Graphics Card.  I did update it in the fall, the system is 'old enough' that there aren't many updates available for any of the chips sets since they are fairly mature like me :)

…and I don't' mind problems - that's how I/We learn - What I mind are problems that last a long time OR come and go ….

Best

I think Don if you install the other stuff it will all work this time as long as you are running CC as an admin. What OS is it?

You're right EVERYTHING installed perfectly and is working just fine.  Even my Waves VST3's showed up.  Way too much fun.  64 Bit Win 7 Ultimate.   I'm going to forget I am a classical music producer and a classical guitar player.
