Platnium update available, but information hard to find

Although I usually open Sonar Platinum using the desktop shortcut, today I decided to use Command Center to see how that works. Sonar Platinum had a yellow dot instead of the previous green dot. Noticed a message that an update is available. Unfortunately, clicking on "learn more" just goes to the Sonar product page with no obvious information about what is included in the update. Search on "platinum update" yielded no results. Went ahead and updated, which went well. Anyone know where to find the details about what changes were made for the update?

Edited to add: Also looked in Knowledge Base under Sonar/Platinum/Updates-Patches with no results shown.

Mine still shows the green light. What version number/name you see for the update?

Hi if you were on the early list to purchase Platinum there was one update shortly after release that fixed some content issues and a reported melodyne problem.
We plan to have a better automatic notification system very soon...

I did see threads about changes after release of the first version, I was not an early adopter. Now my "About" screen shows version 21.00.01 Build 254 x64. I thought I already had build 254, but can't confirm since I did not save a screen shot before updating. Are updates issued within a single build number?

Anyway, still curious where to find information about updates when they happen since the current CC link doesn't help me learn what I'd like to know.

Help > About will show the build. It will change with the installation of each update. If you installed Platinum manually by downloading from your store account instead of through Command Center, then Command Center won't know you installed it, and will continue to show the update available.

I also see this because I did a manual install in order to be able to change the installation path. I think it's because the .XML file in C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Cache\products doesn't get updated.

I'm hoping Command Center gets a little smarter about tracking currently installed versions to deal with this situation in the future.

Re: PLatnium update available, but information hard to find 2015/02/01 08:05:51 (permalink)
In my case, I did the install using Command Center about a week ago. At the end of the installation, the Sonar indicator was green and all subcomponents were green. Yesterday the Sonar indicator was yellow, with all sub-components green. The message said an update is available. When I performed the update, it displayed a bunch of activity downloading and installing files. At the end of the process, the indicator had changed to green. Happily, Sonar continues to work. The About screen shows version 21.00.01 Build 254 x64. Could be that is what I had all along, but the file activity seemed to indicate something substantive was happening. So I'm still wondering what changes, if any, happened in this process. My "Downloads" folder does not show any new files from this process (perhaps the "update" files were deleted after installing), so no clues there.

Maybe the content of upcoming changes will be made more obvious in the future. Most helpful would be some text describing the changes (bug fixes, feature additions, etc.) so users can make informed decisions about timing and possible benefits.

If I'm the only one who got this update message (and files installed with possibly no actual changes), it could be a symptom of some obscure glitch in the CC system instead of an actual update. I'm hoping we'll learn more when the regular work week resumes.

Well, to add to the potential confusion, my installed version of Platinum shows 21.00.01 Build 254, and Command Center shows SONAR as green, but then in the area to the right where it shows a picture of the SONAR Platinum "box", it says Allston Update 1 (21.0.1.254).

I'm guessing that the leading zero's have been dropped in the Command Center version #, but it sure had me going for about 20 seconds. I'm going to guess that I have the latest version installed, but would rather not guess.

That is the version number of the most recent sonar.

When you look in your CCC download folder you'll see that updates have the build number appended to the end of the file name before the .exe extension.

All updates installed through the CCC will be placed into that folder.
