If I go forward to Professional

Hi

I have had a long look at this new system and got very annoyed at first.
I have got AD drums in Sonar X3 and some effects which are not included in Professional.
Also the soft synths are Le versions as I read down the list

If I download the Command Centre and uninstall Sonar X3,have I got to Install everything like Rapture and Dimension again or will the command centre pick up the synths and AD drums like scanning In Sonar X3.
There also seems to be a lot of people finding little annoying bugs.
eg,Using Scarlett 6i6 and splash screens keep coming up. I do not want to go to places like Windows system changing and renaming files.
Is It really worth hanging on to see when at least 80% of bugs are eliminated.
I do not want to upgrade and get more blue screens as It took me some time to get Sonar X3 working seamlessly.
Just as you get things right up comes another upgrade "Oh Sausages"!!!

All the best
John
Ps all the alignments and  pitching and whatever you can invent will not make my voice acceptable to anyone.

You do not have to uninstall X3 (in fact, I would recommend leaving X3 installed). You would not have to reinstall any of the things already in X3, as the new SONAR would automatically see them (only the new SONAR version and content not previously installed). Different version of SONAR can co-habitant without issues, and the programs themselves are not "huge."

Actually I would keep both. You can switch to X3e or Professional as they are also combined with preferences, plugins etc.

I am with Danny here... SONAR only takes up about 200MB of space, it is the samples that consume the "bulk" of the install. I do not have a huge C drive (256BG SSD), and have left X1d, X2a, and X3e installed on it. You can also open newer projects in older versions if needed (neat feature of the bakers), but will lose functionality of the newer version when stepping backwards. X3e has a proven track record for stability, so I intend to leave that installed (at least until this machine dies).

As far as "100%," that is probably an unfeasible expectation (since bugs always exist), but leaving X3 installed really does not cause any issues and gives you the flexibility to use X3 "just in case."

Thanks for the compliment on the car ('71 mustang convertible)!

    Hi Met and dan

    Sounds like great advice.
I will go down that path now as I do not really want to be joining the Luddites.
I was a little sceptical at first, but now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

OK I have done It and It seems so far as rock solid as X3
It also loads up faster than x3
The whole loading up process from command centre to program went without a hitch.
Just got to put a few properties right.

Good to hear...   I saw you had some negative views about the Platinum release in other threads, so hopefully your experience from here will be positive.

If you are still contemplating removing X3, following your completion of the upgrade, I believe that will likely cause some glitches - it has been reported in other past threads that if one chooses to uninstall a prior release that the prior release is better uninstalled THEN the newer release should be installed.

And, I believe that if things were inadvertently/unknowingly done the other way around, and glitches DID appear, that the fix would be to simply do the install of the newer release again.

Sorry I don't have more details, or a 'for sure' stamp for the above.  I still have releases going back to X1 all still installed, so I didn't pay that much attention to the other posts I was referencing, and also they were from some time ago.

If anyone else can substantiate or correct my thoughts above, please do so, and thanks.

I still have 8.5 installed alongside X1 and X3e.  Some plugins that seem to come and go come in handy when they don't go poof.

I am "Five Foot Wall" on Spotify, Deezer, etc.  Platinum, Windows 7 64bit, AMD FX-6100 hex-core @3.8ghz, 8 gig ram (never use more than 5 gigs), Delta 44, UM-2

I did uninstall X3 and did not get rid of shared files--Say no to all.
I think that Is the key.
Also i got rid of duplicate files with cc cleaner, but make sure it Is done slowly.

I have no glitches and all is well so far
    Just keeping things tidy
