should you be able to select clips, etc...

WHILE the song is playing and move them, delete, paste/copy, etc??   Seems my pointer tool isn't able to select individual clips or MIDI clips UNLESS I stop the transport. Actually NONE of the tools seem to work with the transport engaged.  Seems this was a feature previously, ....  but is this something that we're supposed to be able to do??

yowza...I'd thought a quick answer would have happened here.
    A shameless "bump" maybe??
(sorry for my *bumping* rude-ness and thx in advance) ;-)

Never tried before now. I just created a small test project with a couple of audio tracks and two instances of DimPro. Had no trouble grabbing clip headers using the smart tool and moving audio and MIDI clips in the same track or between tracks with the transport running.

hhmmm  (double) thx for checking.  I was specifically also trying to add/delete clips as well, beyond just moving around...but I think there's something else happening as my smart tool didn't work in any scenario.  Stop the transport, all works as should.

EDIT   ...update.   ONLY my "move" tool  (the middle cross) works.  I CAN move clips, but my others don't work.   They won't "grab" the clip...  my erase, pencil. edit, select and smart....they don't work.  ONLY the "move".

Just tried dragging audio clips from the browser into a new project then selecting and deleting one with the transport running, all worked OK.

hhmm... I'll maybe make a vid.  I couldn't see that there is a setting I'm overlooking.  I MORE than appreciate your checking.

I created a totally new session...and ONLY the "cross" tool works.  HOWEVER, it is able to select the clips, and I can delete them with my keyboard.  I'm also able to do the other features, like copy/move...stuff like that.  OTHER tools do not work.

Created another NEW session...  all worked except the "draw" tool.  Erase worked if I drew on the bottom half of the clip.  The smart tool didn't work ( I couldn't stretch a clip out longer).  The "select" tool never works in any sessions.

so some odd behavior is happening.

I only used the smart tool for moving, delete which was a combination of select with the smart tool and the delete key. As mentioned before I do not perform copy/paste/move/delete with the transport running.

I understand.  I think I discovered it because I will create drum tracks on the fly, with the transport running.  Dragging MIDI files in, copying the MIDI clip if I like it (rather than groove clipping, etc... and now there's that new feature in Platinum to do that as well).  I can "usually" stay ahead of the "now time" and keep adding clips, rolls....OR I'll make loop points, stretch them out or move them as needed, etc.
That way I'm not always stop/starting playback.  I just keep creating as the song is playing.  Looping has been my friend.
thx again Scook.  You always seem to go above and beyond.

just to verify...are you using the "smart" tool or the "move" tool?  My "move" tool always seemed to work, while the others didn't....and in some ways, the smart and move tools are similar.

Maybe they don't mess with clips while the transport is running. Of course, that might be in addition to not liking you.
