AD2 and membership

Yet another membership question, but I was thinking about this and I don't recall it coming up.

So, after 12 months of continuous membership you keep your software. If you stop before that, Sonar reverts to demo mode eventually. But I don't see any way that Sonar regulates Melodyne or AD licenses other than providing the code initially. Does this mean that a new user could get a month of Platinum for, what was it, 50/60 bucks and end up with AD2 and Melodyne Essential?

Is this a loophole that still needs to be plugged? It feels like cheating, but I recently spoke to someone who was considering a drum plugin. When I thought of Sonar with AD it suddenly occurred to me.

That's a good point Sander. Not sure how this can be handled......."generally", most people will honestly want the whole Sonar package, but yes, there are those that will exploit these loopholes.
Since AD2 and Melodyne(??) can work independantly from Sonar, it's going to be tough to keep it contained.

Loophole are there to be found and plugged.  I didn't answer before because I don't know the correct answer.  I guess it would depend on how much control Command Center has over the 3rd party stuff.

That's a real, honest to gosh, loophole. This will be very interesting to so how things proceed.

Presumably the Melodyne and AD will have been paid by Cake.  This looks like Cake's revenue leak.

If I were Cake, I would quickly delete this thread and get my wrenches and plumbers putty out

If you read other forums, there are posts of people who buy SONAR just for plugins and do not use SONAR, so this scenario is a very valid concern.

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

I bear Cakewalk no ill will and I feel kinda bad this even occurred to me. Seems worth plugging, to me. I'm assuming Cakewalk pays for each individual AD2 and Melodyne license and would reach a break even point somwhere... But 50 bucks is probably not it.

Worse than this, since a large part of the difference between versions is the extra content, a user could get Platinum for a month and then Producer and lose almost nothing. I'm going to guess that even Nomad BlueTubes stuff would remain...?!?

I don't mind if this thread gets deleted by Cakewalk but it seems there could be serious issues here.

I don't think it's true for the Nomad stuff, that is tied to the Sonar installation, but for Melodyne and AD2 this is a valid concern.

You may be right. I know they're locked to Sonar, but they get installed as VSTs. I figure they may not know whether it's Sonar Producer or Platinum that's running?

Haha you may be right. I already got my year's worth anyway, and I wouldn't "recommend" this construction to anyone. I just got to thinking about it and it seemed strange.
