    Duplicate of a post on...

Ok...I'm trying to wade through the Platinum upgrade...which spoofed me prematurely into installing the 64 bit version.  So...I'm trying to migrate to 64 bit...with the accompanying duplication of plugins (VST2-32, VST3-32, VST2-64, VST3-64, DX, DXi ).

I used to wonder at those who had hit the limit of 255 (or whatever it was) plugins...and now my scanner says I have in excess of 300 of these bad boys.  It will be a major undertaking to properly identify all the cruft that I've accumulated that I will ultimately never use.

So...someone tell me why I'd want to pay more money for another channel strip?  I mean...certain things come along (like the CA2A/PC2A) that do end up being a "must have".  Can someone honestly say that this is one of them?

The good news is that the PC modules work Great in X3e. I just briefly tried it on a drum bus and the EQ gave me all kinds of control over the individual kit pieces. The Comp can really make it sound like the drummer meant to be in the studio that day. Add just a touch of the dry control and it gives the drums more of an up-front sound.

Yes, I have so many plugs I don't know what to do with them but these 2 pieces on a drum bus residing in the PC will probably become a goto for me. Glad I went for it.

    Purrrfect Audio DAW here.  Wow!...

Have you seen the images of empty wallets posted in and around this section? Usually referring to the cclarry effect.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

No one needs another compressor. But everytime I get a new one, I:

    1) Learn much more about how compression can alter a sound. Every one is different.
    2) Immediately add it to my crayon box for when I need a specific color.

Variety is great. The world isn't just RGB (lol, yes it is, but still...)

    Regards,
    Dan

    Mixing is all about control.

True the world isn't RGB, but with light faster and slower than the eye can see with just RGB receptors. The brain doesn't just interpolate the wavelengths such as yellow and orange that fire off 2 receptors at once, but makes up magenta which has no wavelength, when RB receptors fire, but magenta doesn't fall between RB as this is green, and we can't see above ultra violet or infra red, so magenta (purple) is an imaginary colour.

I think more imaginary colours are what we want from some processors.
