Eddie Kramer mixing Dolly Dagger
Something Mr. Kramer just shared which popped up in my Newsfeed. How amazing Hendrix had become in terms of songwriting and arranging in just a few short years.
They just don't make them like that anymore...

You're right Krist. Today they'd spell it Hendryx.

that was pretty cool.... always have dug that tune..... more true to his roots than some of the more experimental 'white' psychedlic progressive stuff (which i also love)

Makes me ashamed of how easy it is now. And I still can't match it. Sigh.

Funny to hear him talk, it's the Trans-Atlantic accent that seemed to be very popular among musicians and radio DJ's at the time with a little South African poking its head out now and then.

I've never really known him or put a face on his name when he was younger, so to me, Eddie Kramer is this older gentleman and respectable producer - pretty much as he is now. It's cool to see him all hip and totally relaxed.

That's very cool. Interesting how nice that D.I. guitar track sounds.

Technically speaking, it's also cool to see (and hear) how they achieved that sound and did things the exact opposite way from what most engineers would normally be doing nowadays. Same as the way Jimi used out of phase tricks to push instruments up front on Electric Ladyland. There's so much freedom in there, and such a feeling that the music is happening in font of you...

Just watched it all the way through..wondering if Alice Cooper stole that riff intentionally for 'Elected'

Thanks for a great video! It led me to look at several more and I found a REALLY interesting video on Jimi's last 24 hours... really interesting. I'm just going to post the link instead of try to figure out how to embed it.. I had a beer... not a spoiler but I always heard Jimi overdosed and choked etc... BUT, according to the medical records his stomach and lungs were absolutely full of red wine and his blood alcohol level was really low. There was no heroin in his blood, he didn't do it. The ambulance drivers said he had been dead for hours when they got there, the girlfriend said he died at the hospital... and on and on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYEttnuZez0 It's a little long. There are things they don't know about Altamont or Rainbow Bridge. The BEL was involved with both. Most of the audience at Maui was BEL and friends. Jimi was pi55ed after the first set, came off stage and threw his guitar down. There was a tent in the audience hiding a couple of BEL members who were wanted, IIRC Eddie Padilla was one. Jimi came to the tent and Ed fired one up laced with DMT. Jimi hit it and said, "I feel like playing some more". (Edit: I just remembered, it was Johnny Gale in the tent with the doob, Ed may have been there, don't remember). Then he did the second set that was so good. At Altamont it was the BEL who noticed that the Hell's Angels were uptight with the crowd and thought that dosing them with Sand's Orange Sunshine would mellow them out and gave them orange juice laced with Sunshine... on the other hand and on another note, the guy the Hell's Angels stabbed to death had pulled a gun. The BEL had also dosed pretty much the whole crowd on OS and Jimi was playing on it. Strange days. I know no one cares anymore about a bunch of people who started with good intentions, got deceived, and went astray... but it is pop history and the BEL influenced the late 60s and early 70s more than pretty much anyone else.
