Wind Midi Sound/Note

Does any one know which Preset Number and Bank is for WIND Midi sounds/notes (i.e outside AIR as in oxygen that we breath).

Any synth that responds to controllers can potentially respond to breath control, which is Continuous Controller #2. But it's up to the synth programmer to program an appropriate response to CC2 and document which banks/patches use it.

I gather some wind controllers can send messages based on embouchure as well, and that would probably be configurable (CC1 Modulation seems most obvious). I'm guessing some can send other messages as from switches and sliders that would allow you to send other controller types.

But ultimately it's all about the programming of the particular synth, and matching what the breath controller sends to the synth programming.

EDIT: Just saw Bigdogs' reply. It didn't occur to me that the OP was referring to GM instruments specifically or that GM would have standardized a bank/patch location for this. Good to know.

Bigdogs: I tried Preset 123 bank 3. That turned out to be a set of  piano notes. I am using Sonar 8 Producer edition. Essentially I am looking for the same sound that can be heard when we heard trees dancing in the air (wind) or wind as it goes past tall buildings. Any suggestions are helpful.

Pick any synth that can generate white noise (which is most of them).

Set the synth's volume and filter envelopes to zero attack and decay with high sustain.

Set the synth's filter to low pass or bandpass.

Use one of the synth's LFOs to modulate the filter cutoff - a random LFO waveform works well for wind, a triangle wave for surf sounds.

Adjust the filter resonance until it sounds right, for wind it often works best of set fairly hign, but not so high it self-resonates.

For more complex wind sounds try using two LFOs with different waves and rates, say one random and the other triangle or sine wave.

That will give the "traditional" synth wind noise.

What are you using to play your midi samples?
E.g. if you load TTS-1 and edit the first instrument (click on the edit button), you can load a preset. Go to SFX and you'll see wind, with the preset and bank number I described

I hit the JACK POT. By right clicking the track then going to properties->patch I was able to find that a WIND/AIR set of Midi-Notes exist under 15491 Preset Normal 3 Patch 122. Thanx every one for the suggestions.
