About to Install 2nd Hard Drive

I did a quick search but didn't find an answer that I felt related to my situation, so at the risk of being repetitive...  I am using a Gateway desktop with a Core i7 2600 processor, 6GB RAM, 1 TB Hard Drive, Windows 7 64bit.  I bought the computer when I went to X1 Producer, so about 3 years ago.  I have since upgraded to X2 and then X3, both Producer version.  Before upgrading to Sonar Platinum I thought that I would add a second  1 TB hard drive.  The only current issue I have is that it seems to take longer to load a project than it used to.  I currently use an network attached hard drive for back-up of project files.  My question is, what is the recommended practice for using the second drive, what should I move from the C drive to this new drive?  What should I be sure not to move? Should I do this before installing Platinum? What are the potential problems I should be aware of? What else should I know that I have not been smart enough to ask?

    The standard answer is "use the second drive for project and audio data." This is done by moving the existing project and audio data and updating SONAR preferences for Project Files and Global Audio Folder. For example, assuming Cakewalk defaults "C:\Cakewalk Projects" and "C:\Cakewalk Projects\Audio" and the new drive is D:
    • Using Windows Explorer move "C:\Cakewalk Project" to the D: drive
    • Set Preferences > File > Folder Locations "Project Files" to "D:\Cakewalk Project"
    • Set Preferences > File > Audio Data "Global Audio Folder" to "D:\Cakewalk Projects\Audio"
    It does not matter when the installation is performed but I would move the audio data before the update and make sure the existing installation works correctly first. This is a safe operation, especially if all the data is backed up. After installing a version of SONAR double check the preferences to make sure they are updated correctly.
