Losing stereo sound when using Melodyne
A guitar track I am working on loses stereo (or at least most of the right field) when I use Melodyne (I have Editor). Track was recorded in mono, being played as stereo for FX. They include: BC Triple EQ (stereo) Plus 10 db Compressor Bias (mono guitar FX) BC Chorus 4 Sending to a stereo bus with another Plus 10 db Compressor and Quadcurve EQ. Set to stereo. As soon as I tell it to create a region effect, the right side nearly disappears, making it really hard to edit, as you may imagine. After I am done, I always tell Sonar to Bounce To Clip so Melodyne's changes take effect. Even after this, the sound remains virtually muted on the right channel. I then save, close and reopen the project and sound returns to normal. Is this just Melodyne, or am I really the cause of this?

I pretty much do any Melodyne processing before I place any stereo type effects -or any effects for that matter other than processing to create a cleaner signal for melodyne. try saving a new mix scene and remove all of that and see if you get the same results.

Sonar Platinum, and Melodyne Editor 2.1.2. All 64bit. I had no idea Melodyne has to filter through effects. Doesn't it just hear the raw signal, then pass it to the effects?

I don't quite understand. When you create a region FX it's with a mono clip, yes?

The clip is mono, yes. I only record guitars (except one made for stereo) in mono.

Just curious... if you bounce your MD edits does that bring back the right side? I do understand what you're describing, but I've never come across it myself.

It sounds to me like one of your plugs is misbehaving. You could find out by deleting them one at a time and creating a clip.
Then you could alert both Cakewalk and the plug maker to resolve the issue.

Same scenario today, but with no loss of the right side. Nothing like what was happening yesterday, but with all the same plugins. It may just be my asio driver (came with M-Audio M-TRACK Quad).

Already updated. It's actually a third party ASIO driver, and it's dodgy at best. Gives me fits all too often.
