e keys 49 midi controller

I cannot  play any of creators soft synths  etc   via  my 49  keboard      I am not sure if I have the correct set up
I am using a Lexicon alpha interface           Music creator  recognises   the 49 keyboard     but why no sound?

I think my audio and midi   configuration must be incorrect          any advice would be appreciated   I am new to computer recording       thanks

Is there the little midi action indicator down in the taskbar?
When you open Cakewalk this shows up. If you hook up a midi device and play, the red light should flash one is in ( left ?)  and one is out.
If it doesn't flash go to preferences, MIDI devices and check the box for it.

Insert a Soft synth test it using the GUI interface to make sure it's output is working.
Make sure it's output is assigned to your master buss and/or audio interface.
    Insert a new midi track.
Set the midi tracks input to the controller  and use omni mode.
If the controller is not on the midi input list re check the device list.
Set the midi tracks output to the soft synth.
    It will work
