XBOX controller support

Just a few opitions mapped to xbox controller would be great. play, stop, record, rewind, maybe use the shoulder buttons to set locators. Triggers could be scrub back and foward etc. Would be very handy.

You can get an adapter to plug the Kinect into a computer USB Port.

I wrote an app that let's my kid control her Lego NXT Robot using hand gestures through the Kinect.

I totally could write code to stop the transport when you raise your hand or start it when you stand on one leg... but there are definitely better ways to do this.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Well, if you really want it...
https://code.google.com/p/midi-dot-net/
Could be used with this...

Does anyone actually have the adapter to plug the kinect into the PC other than me?

I've known about it for a while.

I just can't wait for somebody to post that their project is stuttering, and somebody to respond 'Have you tried standing on your head'... I digress sorry!

The new xbox controller is terrific. High build quality- will last for thousands and thousands and thousands of hours, even if it is occasionally dropped or whatever. They make about 100 million of them over a short time period so you will always be able to get one in the future. They are relatively cheap. They are beautifully ergonomically designed. They have a high degree of function- if you are familiar with computer games you realize that even though they do not hacve many sticks and buttons they are extremely versatile. You can work them comfortably even when walking around. They work great with PC- pretty much just plug in and play.

Now for someone like me who generally uses a huge single monitor and likes to pace around alot from computer chair, to piano, over to vocal mic, over to listening couch, being able to control sonar with the xbox controller would be totally awesome :)

Almost makes me want to learn how to prgram computers

Forgive me for chiming in but...

You want a really cool, simple controller for your left hand while working right with mouse:
http://www.contourdesign.com

and look for shuttle express or pro.

jog wheel to move transport, ring to zoom in/out horisontally or whatever you like. Same with the buttons.
It really speed things up.

'Pinnacle Game Profiler' is 3rd party software that allows you to map whatever you want to a controller. You can create custom profiles that load when you run a program and use the buttons for any keyboard shortcut or even create macros.

I think it would be a waste of resources to put much time or effort into something that was never meant for music. I am sure someone is perfectly capable of hacking a functional controller use for kinect or controller without Sonar diving in. The shuttle or similar control surface is much better choice for that type of control

There are other freeware options to allow you to map buttons of x360, ps3 and 4 controllers as well as joysticks and gamepads to keystrokes.  Try youtube and search joytome for ideas.  I just downloaded the picnnacle software to test it during the free trial period.  The info I have is the controllers are basically midi controllers to begin with.  I like the idea of mapping directly to keystrokes and combinations, however, I 'v seen some pretty amazing examples of game controllers used as midi devices to play midi drums, etc.  I'm not sure what the forum rules are for posting links but I searched game controller as midi drums and came up with some cool stuff.

I would think this option would work with the xbox controller. Works with my flight stick and logitech game pad
