45 years ago today...


 
One of those albums I've listened to since I was 12, through every phase I went through, whether I was into metal, or classic rock or dark electro or whatever - there was always room for that one, and it has remained as relevant to me, all the way through.

And my own bands carried that torch for as long as I played live. As a matter of fact, I've recently started reworking a dark electro/industrial arrangement of the title track that I did a few years ago.

The 1st time I heard it was during lunch time at my high school parking lot. My friends and myself crammed into a Volkswagen Van just like you'd imagine from 1970 with flowers painted on the sides and carpet throughout. I was wearing bell bottoms and we were partaking in the far out sounds of the 8 track.  Out a sight it was...

Yep, I remember one of my buddies who was a drummer dragging about 5 or 6 of us into his father's garage and playing it on a turntable that was sitting on a stack of old snow tires, and we were shocked and amazed.
