Good Lovin'

Hello folks!
I sat down to write a more complicated composition, started playing with bass and this is what happened. The vocals are a one track thing...IOW I haven't really worked them any and I probably should. This kind of veers from my recent direction but it was a lot of fun to make.
I put it up on SC..didn't like it...made the track private for a few days to work on it and just re activated public status. I appreciate OPs. Thanks!

Starise - Nice job, love this funky kind of stuff.   At :04 it sounded like a glitch happened (like a restart or skip)
The lead guitar is a little too loud (the fills during the verse).  Horns are cool.   Nice job on the vocals.  You could add some more vox harmonies but not necessary.

Wasn't crazy about the tempo change at :48.  Personally I would keep the rhythm section going throughout as this could be a good dance tune, the interlude could be distracting.    My opinion of course.   I like the song a lot.   It is funkalicious...:)

Fun! I especially like the guitar work, pretty slick. Occasionally, your horn lines trample on your vocal. Background harmonies are a plus!!! Bass line works a treat. Love the groove . . .

Overall that snare/kick could be brought out just a bit more. A snappier, drier snare might suit, just a matter of taste, of course.

    Level 42, anyone! Heaven 17? EW&F?

    That is different for you...

Cool funky groove.   Harmonies are nice.   Overall its got a cool 70's-ish vibe, catchy.

For the horns, I would personally pull back a little on the reverb, and maybe use a trumpet patch will more attack and really make those stabs hit.   You know, like EW&F.

I like the funk guitar and the instrumental interplay. Good vocal work. My only crit is that that mix sounds tinny and somewhat distorted to my ear.

    Walt- Thank you!

    kakku-Thanks!

    gswitz- Thanks for listening!

marno999- Thanks for your honest and helpful remarks. I'll look at the places you mentioned. I picked up on the slight glitch but I had hoped you wouldn't notice it :) It's gonna be a lot of trouble to get that edited out....so I left it in. I hear ya on keeping this moving. I was attempting to break it up slightly but I think in hindsight I should have introduced something less different later on in the song. I appreciate it!

emeraldsoul- I'll re examine where that horn line is trampling the vocals...and those drums...duly noted...Thank you!

clintmartin- I was hoping that this would sound kind of like that :) Thanks!

stevec- Ok Steve...so come on over and we can work on this one ;)...I keep trying to collab with you on something...maybe one day? The horns are from Komplete. Pro session horns I think. It has the trumpets you mention in it...so I'll see what I can do with that. Thanks!

gtrpastor- well tinny and distorted aren't good things...Thanks for your observations! I'm not sure what can be done...I can lower the bite mid of the horns but I like mids a little "bity" I'm pretty certain I didn't clip so I'm at a loss to understand the "distorted" comment. If someone else hears it please tell me.I'm not hearing that here.I'm not doubting you I just don't hear it...maybe I'm loosing my hearing :)

Wookie- Thanksyou and happy belated birthday man! I hope it was a good one for you.

    james1213- I like being funked up sometimes.Thanks!

I love a good funking in the morning and it's 5:42AM as I type this.  WAAAAY too much fun Tim!  Love the guitar work and vocals.  Would like to hear the drums a little tighter with a bit more kick for such an energetic tune...but that's just me.

    Very cool!

It sounds fun and funky to me.  I agree with SteveC on the horns a bit more "stab" might improve an already great song.  I don't think that you need any work on the vocals --- they sounded good to me.  If this is out of your comfort zone then you slid right in.

Hey Starise, I wouldn't worry too much about what I said. I noticed nobody else had a problem with the way this sounded except for me. So it might be my system or (more likely) just me. Also, I am much newer at this than you.

I also use Komplete for horns, but just the out-of-the-box versions.   There should be trumpets and saxes with a quicker attack and less "tongue" up-front, if you know what I mean.

cool grooving upbeat thing happening here starise...

you need to polish up a few snippets here and there, is all..
places where things step on other things..
especially when they are syncopation things..
example,on the very beginning, the lead guitar starts a melody, and the horns immediately step on it..
you could simply take out the lead guitar just right at the beginning,
let the rhythm get established with that cool rhythm guitar part,
    let the horns come in,
then bring the lead guitar back in.

all the rest of the arrangement works just fine....
these are subtle edits that will make it totally dialed in.
