Sonar crashing with MIDI

I am having a plethora of issues, but the most egregious right now is Sonar crashing when I try to add a SoftSynth track. I have uninstalled Sonar, including the registry info, then reinstalled, more than once. All my audio projects seem to work, but I'm working in a largely MIDI project now... when I first load the program it plays back okay, but when I try to add a new SoftSynth track the programs crashes completely. Any thoughts will be appreciated. I just did a registry defrag, then did not seem to solve the problem.

I'm sorry about your previous post. It may have been deleted by the Forum Software filter.

What softsynth are you having trouble with?

When ever I hear trouble with crashing when a synth is loaded I  think about memory.  If haven't I would test your memory.

Currently in SuperiorDrummer 2.4.1 there is a bug which will be fixed next update - loading user combined presets.
If running 44k, it's ok, it was to do with resampling to 48k.

Anyway, my point, troubleshooting this loading presets the daw was in unstable state after loading. So whatever you did after that - could make it crash.

So that a new synth make it crash - could be the previous put daw in unstable state already.

Make a test and load just the last one - in a blank project and see how it goes.
You may find that - what is buggy - is not Sonar or the last synth.

Just discovering this, but it seems to be mostly the TTS-1, which has the greatest variety of sounds.

    Hello,

I saw something very similar to this with older projects that I tried to then add TTS-1 or other DXI synths... What it looked like to me was that the TTS-1 perfersto use memory in the the first 4gb address range. How I tested was to take a project with a bunch of synths delete them and then adding the TTS-1 first or in front of the other synths. (Depending on project could prove to be too much trouble)  It would load and add without issue. I also created an new project and as long as the DXi synths came first or very early in the chain ... I could load and add a bunch of synths. For some reason thought .. If I loaded a bunch of other  synths first .. at a certain point the DXI synths seemed to have an issue loading especially TTS-1 and PSN if they came later in the chain. IHTH...

After reading the responces I agree that this must be a memory related issue.
I would open the task manager while working and see what it shows as you load the soft synths in.
TTS-1 has got to be one of the least problimatic synths I've ever used. I have it on every project if not just for the Kick drum I also prefer it's organs over Dim Pro. ( those cost me money too!!)

Well, starting a new project and copying my tracks into it seems to have helped. Now on to the aforementioned "plethora" of issues. Still getting latency from Akai, and sometimes I get sound, then it goes away... all I have to do is start the track for a second to get it back, but that doesn't seem right.
