Sonar pro up and running and soft synths 100% SAVE FOR FUTURE????
Hi I have all running 100% as It can be. I have read that Norton Ghost cannot or will not be read by Windows 8. I have Windows 7 and at some point In the next three years I may upgrade to Windows 8 or whatever. Being that I have loads of codes and and settings running great, i would like to know what would be the best thing for taking an Image of the whole drive and keeping It on a usb hard drive for the future to run In higher system such as Windows 8 or maybe 9. I would like some top suggestions for this as I need to make my set up bomb proof. It takes a long long time to get all running like a dream. All the best john

I've used Acronis with my Win 8.1 setup without issues. Even replaced my C drive using it.

Acronis works great, but you can do it for free with Macrium Reflect. I used it recover an image that Windows "could not find," and it worked flawlessly.

Confirmed about Norton. So goto Acronis is my suggestion.

Another vote for Acronis True Image. I have used it for many years, saving a clean backup with only windows and system drivers, then a complete backup with all software. It is brilliant to be a able to return to an 'as new' system in minutes should you need to diagnose any future issues.

+1. Another free imaging program I can recommend is AOMEI Backupper. Both of these freebies work perfectly at backing up and restoring system images. Just this past weekend, I tested both: Backed up and restored my C: partition twice, with zero hiccups. Honestly, there is no excuse for any DAW-user these days to be flying without a safety net (a backup system image). The two titles mentioned above are excellent, free, and do the job with little fuss and time.

Acronis is a godsend for me.. I had an issue a few months back where my boot up directory was messed up, I had tried everything rebuilding, I even went as far as to pay someone to remotely access my computer, cause I thought someone would be able to figure this out. Long story short they could not fix the problem , there only solution was reformat.( no no ) Well I had Acronis installed but I messed up my image somehow, so thats why I had gone through all these steps to fix my boot up problems , Well I did get it work thanks the neosmart easy recovery which I purchased and it rebuilt my whole W8 directory.. Now I have 2 images and multiple restore points . I am also going to Use Acronis to build my new desktop when windows 10 comes out.. I read that you can use acronis on your HD , So that your new Mother board and HD will be able to work together.. Acronis is a life saver..
