Adding affects to a single phrase in a track....

In previous versions of Sonar I could highlight a a phrase on a single vocal track and do something like add delay and edit it even after the fact. Trying to do that in X3e It only allows for adding & auditioning. Once added tho I can not figure out where to go back and correct timing etc... Any suggestions? Also what is the technical term for this?

Are you referring to a clips fx bin? That can be accessed via the clip inspector or the clips bin (now rack in latest version) found in the top right corner of a clip.

    Thanks Karl,

I tried that but It would only allow me the insert an affect but not allow me to edit it once selected. So if the timing of the delay was off I could not figure out how to go back and edit it. It seems to have disappeared. I could  still hear it but could not access it to correct whatever issue I had with it.

Right-click on the clip there is an option in the context menu to "Open Clip Effects Bin..." The shortcut is ALT+K

Working from memory..... you should be able to open the fx ui from there and make adjustments. If you've already bounced the fx down there's not much you can do about it apart from "undo" if it was a recent thing.

    Thanks guys. FBB no bouncing.
I didn't mention that I did not split the phrase I just highlighted the section that I wanted to apply the delay to. Not sure if that matters.

I'm not at my DAW right now but doesn't the highlight auto split the clip? IIRC you can't just highlight and apply an effect, you'd have to insert it in the clip fx bin.

You can highlight to apply DSP effects that are built into Cakewalk (like Normalize or Gain) so they affect only the highlighted section.

FX aren't as closely connected to Cakewalk's code. You have to tell the FX specifically which section you want processed, and the way to do that is by defining a clip.

Yes hence my confusion as to why the OP can't edit it. As I understand it he is referring to a delay effect which must be either as an fx in the clip fx bin or bounced from an fx previously in the bin, now applied.
