There seems to be this trend recently of people being pussified over weather conditions in the East. It's Winter.

It may have something to do with (most of) us getting older.

Snow doesn't bother me, but I must admit I no longer relish shoveling it.  And 7 feet in 30 days would cause me some difficulty, mostly in that what I have to remove from the driveway wouldn't fit on the small square of lawn where I usually dump it (the pile would have to be 20 feet high !).

I don't think the problem is that it's winter, I think the problem is that it's a high-definition winter

Something somewhat freakish is happening here in Nashville. Usually every winter there are a few days when it gets really cold, maybe it snows, and there's ice on the roads. This year, it's been going on for a week, with a couple nights of single-digit temperatures and temperatures below zero in some places. Right now it's pouring rain and above freezing so it's starting to melt the snow and ice, but tonight it's going to go below freezing...and no, I'm not going anywhere.

Gibson was closed last Monday because it was simply too dangerous to drive...one of the few times Gibson support was not available 24/7.

Record low temps all the way to Miami.

Record high temps and drought in the west.

Guy on the weather news said this blast of artic air was over Siberia last week.

So, I blame it all on Putin.  Now we have a face to sling our words at.

-17 when I got up this morning. It is now 30 degrees. What a crazy difference.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

Having lived in Buffalo my whole life, we actually don't get as much snow as people think. In fact the cities east of us most notably Syracuse average more than we do. What happened is Buffalo got pounded in '77 with a nasty blizzard that shut down the city for 10 days, that's how we earned the reputation for so much snow, at least nationally.

BTW Here's a great weather blog which points to a pattern change that will finally bring some relief to the east after 3/1
