For the same price you can pick up Sonokinetic's Capriccio which blows it away... lots of vids on their site. NI tells you nothing but a few at V.I. Control who've picked it up weren't impressed. I wasted my money on Action Strings/SSpro... as I fell in love with the realm, they just ended up being way too cheesy.

I am new to the Strings VST world but I was impressed by the demo for NI Emotive Strings but from reading the replies most here are saying it is not worth the price. What software would you suggest for $299 that gives you quality of Emotive strings or better? Also I was researching but could not find any information on if the various string VST allows you to use already created midi from say a previous project and you want to add the Emotive Strings sounds to it? I want to make a wise investment so I am glad I came here before buying, I am looking to purchase today if this helps I have the free Kontact 5 player. Thanks in advance for your response

How is the intergration of Sonokinetic's Capriccio with Sonar? This is all new to me

This typically involves inserting key switches as that is what "triggers" the pattern, not the performance.

Thanks for the reply but my ignorance to this concept is causing me to not understand your answer, so let me try asking the question a different way. With my keyboard I can play chords and the notes are displayed in the midi track and I can assign those midi notes to a particular sound. With a software like Emotive strings or any Orchestra VST that scores, do I have that ability? Next within Sonar how does the VST write the track within Sonar, is it as simple as adding a virtual instrument, choose Kontact 5 player, load up the Orchestra VST and then create what i want? To achieve the full orchestra sound can that be achieved with one track or is there an option to choose output to multiple tracks? I am trying to get a good understanding before I invest my money into a Professional Sounding Orchestra VST. Which brings me to a new questions, which should I buy, all suggestions welcomed.

BMOG, Packages like Emotive Strings, Action Strings, Session Horns and 3rd party packages as well have a set of keys defined as key switches. These key switches dictate the "patterns" to be played by the "samples" notes you play. These "samples" are in a range on the keyboard that do not include the key switches. So if you play an Am chord on the keyboard and you press on key switch that is assigned to a quarter note pattern every chord you pay after that key switch will be in that "pattern". Switch to a "triplet" pattern and every note or chord you play after that will be in that pattern. Now, I have Action Strings and there are many "pages" of patterns in various styles. The key switches are used for that "page" of patterns and so they may not be the same type of pattern from page to page. Hope that helps.
