Wow! 886 plugins after installing Platinum!

My X3 setup had 326 plugins (Way too many, I know. I never use most of them and need to clean them out) After installing Platinum, it's showing 886 plugins!!!! I've GOTTA get rid of some! Just don't want to screw things up and get rid of something I need.
Anybody else had this happen and what's the best way to go about this?

Check the VST scan path. It may be picking up both 32bit and 64bit plug-ins. At least that was happening to me and I had to remove the 32bit VST paths from Preferences > File > VST Settings. I only use 64bit scan paths in SONAR and use 32bit paths for other applications.

Thanks, scook. Yeah, it's definitely scanning 32 bit as well as 64 bit plugs. It copied my personalized settings from X3 (32 bit).

I also found that while you can tell Sonar to load VST3 and not the VST2 equivalent that it seems to count them in the Toast pop up.

I find that they are not only present in count, they are included in program manager list anyway.
I got the Waves stuff in both VST2 and VST3 anyway.

But Waves stuff also have mono,mono->stereo and stereo components obviously so that increase count quite a bit.

It seems to me duplicate VST2 are only excluded in list at selection time for insert.
But not sure if I made a total rescan from X3 upgrade to SA - and different now.

Duplicate VST2s of VST3 s are counted but aren't listed in my Plugin Manager. I don't use personalised plugin menus.

Did you have any problems loading the VST3 Waveshell? Sonar doesn't even see them half the time.
    VST3 really organizes them nicely.

Create folders for your 32 bit and 64 bit plugins if you haven't already for Sonar path.

Create a folder called legacy and create two subfolders under this for 32 bit and 64 bit, outside sonar path.

Create another folder called 'deleted' containing 32 and 64 subfolders outside sonar path.

When retiring or removing a plugin just move your DLL into appropriate directories outside sonar path, that way you can always recover.

Do something similar with vst3 if necessary.
