The up and down side of the XLN redemption codes for AD2

Here is a direct quote from XLN support regarding redemption codes and time limit.

"Thank you for contacting us. You can redeem the products one at a time and use only the ones you have redeemed - there's no time limit. However - the offer is only for the currently available products, so you will not be able to redeem products that are released in the future."

So for a guy like me (who owns all the current kits for AD2) the 3 new kits I'm allowed are null an void. I can get the only two kit pieces I don't have, but that's it. And I can get 3 MIDI pack since I do not own about 20 of them.

Not complaining, just thought I'd at least address the question (awhile back) about timeout for the XLN redemption codes.

Did you let them know that you have all of the AD Paks? They have been pretty flexible in the past on a per case basis.

Yes I did Rocky. Explicitly. Because my question (in part) was can I use the redemption code for future releases since I own them all now.

The XLN suppot was very flexible in my case. They offered me AD Keys (3 Instruments) instead.
Acually I chose the last ADpak I didn't owned before, Studio Grand and Modern Upright plus 3 MidiPaks and 3 Kitpieces.

Well, I don't own the Electric Grand instrument (I have all the others) and I'm missing two 2 of the kit pieces pieces so that would be the max I can get there. I do have 17 MIDI packs I can choose from. Maybe the 17 MIDI packs are at least equal to the other two kits and one kit piece I cannot redeem?

Ask for it. They do it manually then.

Wouldn't hurt to shoot em an email and ask (the worst case is they'll say no can do) but, they're pretty good with CS satisfaction.

On a similar note:
In their current survey, I asked XLN to make their pricing structure (on drum kits) a bit more affordable for those of us that already had the AD2 engine.....(I know this won't make much of a difference to you, but may help others wanting more).

That's the plan Stan(s). Might as well try to get all I can since the codes don't allow for future kits, pieces or packs.

I only had two ADPaks left. I emailed XLN and they let me get a AK pak. I tried to get the remaining kit pieces but had to get the AK pak. The Fender Rhodes they have is pretty cool.

I hate reading threads like this... it is almost like companies preying upon its loyal customers for revenue. The loyal customers should be getting the freebies IMO. Very saddening to read this one.

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

The sad thing is that (nowadays) not many companies actually do honour loyal customers.....and the trend seems to be growing.

If the product is good enough, I usually prefer to support the smaller business ie. Orange Tree Sample, Indiginus etc.....
Of course IMO, AD2 is a fantastic and useful tool for me........so I go with the flow.

I don't really see a problem, though I can see being disappointed because there's nothing left to get for free.

But it's the same for the buyer who doesn't want drums, or AD2 drums.  They also get nothing.

Paul,

I was hoping to use the 3 kits for future kits. That's the disappointment (i.e. problem).

Damn that is annoying. I have 7 kits and 3 keys, but their is only one kit I am 100% one (Sesssion Percussion) and 2 I am about 80% on and I'm not sure I really want to get them both. I since tried to download just 2 kits, but to take the deal all three must be purchased at the same time. I had been waiting to see what their next production was, so I could make a better decision, but now it's pointless waiting.

I'm in the same situation with IK Multimedia. With a few group deals over the years I own the lot so I've missed out on other special offers because they don't have any more products I'm eligible to be given in a promotion. Unless of course I get duplicates and try to sell them on but I'm not really interested in all the muck around. I have a stack of points that expire and I lose as well.

Ya, it's a drag owing a companies entire suite when you have points/codes etc. to redeem and they are useless (for the future items you will probably want).

Half their stuff is for more rock minded musicians (which is fair enough), and not for me. Knowing that I can't have credits in the account for up and coming stuff is going to put me off buying anything that becomes available. In December with the sales, if anything is created in this year, I'm unlikely to purchase. If I get some credits from cake next year, then I can only use them for stuff that comes out this year, not next. Cake may not bundle AD2 next year, but if they did, I'd have to hold off purchases Sonar until XLN bring out something I want, otherwise the bundle has no value at all.

They have something for every style except marching snares. They do lack a lot of percussion though even with their percussion pak.

That's true, XLN's bread & butter line up is geared more towards rock.......BUT, how many more rock kits can they really be putting out before it starts to saturate?
I think they'll have to venture onto expanding with different genre's (if they're to maximize their customer base) and have more variety in their mix.

For me, (since I enjoy using AD2) it's nice to have all my drum sounds in one place.......I like it to be good sounding, quick in editting for good results, and having them sit well in the mix.

@Guitarpima: regarding their percussion.....the percussion midi pak is excellent to use with any of the adpaks as it plays the 'percussion' instrument per which ever kit you are using. I was doing this last evening to test out the sounds in Machine (electronic)drums, and was very impressed at the variety.

I'd love them do an 'Un-Plug' set of 3 AdPaks, that (using a less Jazz sounding kit) for brush, hot rods, mallets. And using those to fill out a variety of shakers in the percussion sets. I think it would be hard to sell a shaker sound as Kitpeice, but this would easliy include them.
