Multiple take real estate

So here's the deal. I am recording a single, finger-style guitarist. I am setting up two mics and one DI. With three tracks, what is the best way to set up Track View in order to not immediately run out of real estate (screen space) as we do multiple takes putting together a song?

Thanks in advance

- C to hide the control bar.
- F11 to go Full Screen
- Shift+B to close the Bus Pane
- Minimize the parent track height.
- Shift+T to hide lanes when you don't need to see them.
- Get a higher resolution monitor
- Make fewer mistakes
- Consolidate takes lanes manually as necessary after doing multiple takes in different (i.e. non-overlapping) sections:
     1. Lasso each new set of takes and Shift+drag them down to the lower lanes created by earlier takes
     2. Right-click the comp clip in the parent track and Remove Empty Take Lanes.

I'd also add to make sure that you are in "comp" record mode and that you have "Group All Clips" selected in Prefs--->Project--->Record--->Multi-track Grouping.

That will make life much easier later.

Technically you don't need more than three tracks unless you're actually recording different parts. If you're just doing overdubs of the same part you can rely on comping mode later to comp a good take. As long as "group all clips" was on during recording, you can basically comp one track and the other two will follow suit.
