Hard drive advice

Hey guys,
I am about to buy EW Complete Composers Collection 3 (http://www.soundsonline.com/CCC3-GOLD-EDU) along with one optional library.
I was thinking I would get a 240 GB SSD for about $150 but just realized that these libraries alone are more than 240 GB (and I was hoping to move a couple of other libraries off my antiquated hard drives).
To stay within my budget I think I'll need to go with a 7200 rpm platter drive.
I've read here in the forums that people like the Western Digital Black...I'm thinking that one of these (maybe 2 since it would be in my budget)...do you guys concur or any suggestions? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236625
For anyone looking at my specs in my signature...just so's you know I'll be adding 2 more 8 GB sticks to my current 16 GB RAM.
Thanks very much,
Randy

For a conventional hdd, definitely Western Digital Caviar Black, preferably with a 64mb cache.

Thanks Bob, according to the link above it does have 64mb cache...but doesn't have the word "caviar" in it...is that something I need to be aware of?
    Thanks again,
    Randy

Yes, that's a caviar black, they come with a 5 year warranty.
If I remember correctly, blue and red come with a 2 year.
    ABSOLUTELY STAY AWAY FROM GREEN!!!

    hey Randy,

Just to say yes, go with the WD black. WD used to use Scorpio and Caviar names but have dropped these now and just use colors. Black drives are a for intense use like audio & video. Red, Green, Blue, Purple are for less critical uses. See http://www.wdc.com/en/products/internal/desktop/

The Black is a good drive - I have 2 x 500gb as my main drives and a 2TB backup. They're still solid after two years constant use.

One thing you might consider is using a cheap 64GB or 128GB SSD just as a temporary work space - just load on/off tracks as you need them.

    Anyhow hope this helps.

    Kind regards

    Gary

I use my East West stuff on a Buffalo external drive mainly because of the onboard RAM. I keep a backup of that drive on a 2TB WD Black drive.

Thanks guys, I'm sold...and it's really nice that the price point has come down so much since I last bought a drive.
    Thanks again,
