New tune, Gigawatti

I finished this track today, although I might stll make some changes to it if(when) I get good tips. This tune has two different choruses and it is mixed using headphones. The name is a bit misleading. Comments are welcome as always:)

    Another nice pleasant tune.

On the mix I do have a question do you pan your instruments, as to me it sounds a bit too stereo could do with some of the voices begin narrowed down and placed more specifically in the sound stage.

Thanks for sharing Antti you are getting there.

Thank you for your comment John. I do some panning. I put the bass and the lead instruments into the middle and sometimes I cut backing synths in the middle section. I must admit that mixing is one of my weak spots and I should study it. Thanks for the encouraging words.

hey kakku, nice work.  It's difficult for me to critique this kind of music as it's not normally stuff I listen to, but it sounds pretty good.  I agree with john's comments about it sounding too narrow.

    keep up the good work.

Thank you Reece for your comment. The mix might be too narrow, but I thought John had a bit opposite view. I will however return to mix it a bit some day when I want to torture myself:D(I am not a fan of the mixing process and I do not know anybody who I could ask for help in this. )

Yes, I forgot that I can ask for help in the forums. I meant that I don't know anybody to actually mix tunes for me. Although if I offered money somebody could be found. Remember, errare humanum est!

I like it, and I think the snare could be brought up louder, with less reverb. Have you thought of something a bit drier in the rhythm department? It's a matter of taste of course, but I think something more organic for drums might serve the lovely synth work up better.

I thought the second drum section worked much better in the song than the first one.

I'm curious to see where you take this. It's striking me as pretty European, which is a nice flavor these days.

    cheers,
    -Tom

Thank you Tom for your comment and tips. I use mostly samples for the drums. I for some reason like to have some reverb for the drums also. I actually use a shared reverb for all the instruments. I also like the second drum section better. I am not sure if I make big changes to the tune any more. Better mix is probable though. Thanks again.

    Kakku,

Nice song and instrumentation.  The mix could use some work as has been pointed out, but, an enjoyable listen nonetheless.

Thanks for the comment Mark. Yes, I will do some mixing hoping to get it done right, because I think this tune was probably my best this far.

Beautiful dreamy floaty track. You have a real knack for this kind of sound. I really like the melodies.

Nice synth work on this one.   Good selection of tones and layering.   I like the melody(s) as well.

Mix-wise, as mentioned above, the only thing I didn't care for were the drums - they don't seem to be on the same level as your other parts.  What synth are you using for drums?

Thank you for listening and for your comment. I used just samples for the drums as I mostly do. I have the cm version of the Audiorealism drum machine too but I don't know how to use it(I have thought about learning it though but I'm lazy).

Very melodic as always Antti, you really have an ear for a catchy instrumental. Getting hints of Pet Shop Boys and China Crisis in this one.

Thank you James for your comment. I actually listen to the Pet Shop Boys sometimes so you have good ears. The other band is unknown to me though.
