It really is something. I don't dig in to the details of how screwed up things are for me right now but it's pretty bad. My studies and my music are what keep me going. Gives me hope and purpose. I try to contribute as much as I can because I've gotten so much out of this place myself but I just kind of figured I was the bumbling, semi-affable n00b. To hear people actually listen to my drivel... well I guess I'd better up my game. lol

You guys have done a great service for this creaky old weirdo gimp. It's a real kick in the pants to keep going.

Its so cool that just a little while ago this was just an idea. An idea that caught the forum's collective imagination. Now it is a reality. I still feel the glow of this event. It is so much a part of the full meaning of this forum.

Its really a very small thing with no great world impact but for our tiny conner of the world it has immense value. Something this forum can hold close and keep in its collective memory. Beepster is just the funnel for focus of a forum that needs to express its love of its membership.

Hi Beeps,
I was out skiing today so missed this but would have contributed had I seen it in time. One way or another I'm pleased as punch the forumites got together on this. I know we've only corresponded a bit but I've always enjoyed your presence here. Happy sailing with the new sofware, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

I haven't rwad the whole thread but I wanted to commend everyone for pitching in for him... It speaks volumes in his favor!

...just a note. Another forum member who asked to remain anonymous just did this for me. I would give to Beepster too if I had any available.

What an amazing forum group we have here. This speaks libraries for Sonar in the people it attracts!

My congrats and thanks to all the forum members we are so lucky to have!

I hope lots of good things happen for all of you!

Re: Let's buy Platinum for Beepster 2015/02/28 16:49:20 (permalink)
Okay... all installed now.

For SilkTone (and anyone else who's interested) here's ther offline activation procedure. It's pretty easy and as I said ealrier I was just following the vid.

1) Go to your store account's Products page using your online computer
2) Click on Connected Products (it's kind of a dropdown above your older products)
3) Click on the Platinum section which will expose all the downloads for Platinum
4) Download whatever you want from the list (if you own previous versions you'll own a lot of that stuff already)
5) If you need the Addictive Drums, Melodyne or other included stuff you have to click the other dropdowns because they are not under the Platinum section but that has nothing to do with registering Sonar.
6) Put all your downloads on an external drive or whatever you use to move files around between systems
7) Right click the Platinum installer and select Run As Administrator (I always use Run As Administrator but a double left click should launch it anyway... you should also close all other programs and turn off your antivirus temporarily)
8) Once you go through all the install windows open Platinum (or Artist or Studio)
9) In the vid it says to create a project but you don't need to do that. Just close the Open dialog if it pops up so you have a blank instance of Sonar
10) In the global menu (at the top of the screen) click Help > Offline Activation > Export Activation Request
11) Choose a location on your computer to save the file generated (like your desktop)
12) Transfer that file to your online computer
13) Log into your Store account again and click Activate
14) Click "Select A File" (if you use script blockers you need to allow the Cakewalk domain for this to work).
15) Browse to wherever you saved the file (like your USB key or desktop)
16) This will generate a new file that you need to download (the vid doesn't really show this)
17) Transfer that file back to your DAW
18) Open Sonar and click Help > Offline Activation > Import Activation Response
19) Browse to wherever you have your new activation file stored and select it
20) Apply it and a Toast message will pop up saying Sonar is now activated. The Offline Activation entry in the Help menu will disappear as well... I'm assuming until your membership lapses.

So a little bit of effort and seems like a lot of steps but it's actually pretty easy.

Cheers.

Oh my goodness. I haven't even opened a project yet and the Control Bar is already blowing my mind. I had been asking for some of this stuff (scrolling through modules) but the fact that collapsed modules drop down is bah-RILL-iant.

It happened crazy fast as soon as I got my own side together. I think it was like 45 minutes after I sent the first PM with the addy. I literally had to scramble to post that the target had been hit. Definitely feelin' the love today.

Thanks again, doods. Going to do a Save As of my current X3 project so I can safely open it up in Platinum tommorrow. I usually finish off songs in the version they were started in but Platinum is looking pretty much like X3 with extra awesome sauce so it should be safe. Could really use MixRecall on it considering I'm heading into the final stages. Great timing.

Re: Let's buy Platinum for Beepster 2015/02/28 18:42:31 (permalink)
I actually snagged the SWA synth/instruments vid that I had been eyeballing for a while. I'm pretty comfortable with most of Sonar now but as a guitar player I need a LOT of training working with MIDI instruments. Hopefully that will allow me to help with (or at least somewhat understand) questions about the programs within the program. Some of those things are sooper complex. 5 hours of vids for 13 bucks seems like a no brainer. The X2 FX vid certainly helped me a lot and I'm assuming this will be similar.

Raising a virtual pint anyway. Cheers, ya'll!
