Software to manage multi part midi file

Hi all

I have Sonar LE that will only take 64 midi parts but I have a midi file that contains many more (when it was exported from my old Magix software each midi phrase was put on a different line of midi). Is there any free midi handling software that I could import the file into to try to rearrange it for import into Sonar?

Cheers

If each part is on it's own MIDI Channel there is a CAL script to split the MIDI by channel.

Don't know if SONAR LE comes with CAL or not. Hopefully it does.

Sorry not usre what CAL is but not sure it would help if it was in Sonar LE itself as the problem comes when I import the midi file - unless CAL works on the import process?

Under Process, do you see Run CAL... ?

If so, click it and locate the CAL script Split Channel to Tracks.cal in the file open dialog box.

Hi, Bapu and the original poster.

Bapu - I believe he is having the issues trying to get the midi data imported to Sonar in the first place, so he would not have a chance to run CAL against the data - it cannot load into a midi track for him to run the CAL script.  (unless I am missing something)

You could try to import as Midi file type 0  ( all channels on a single track ) then attempt to sort it out with a Cal,  if available.

I don't appear to have CAL in LE

Trying to paste a screen dump of what I get when I import the midi file but can't do it - can anyone advise how I can do that?

Thanks for your help by the way :-)
