Platinum instability?

I finally got around to doing my first actual project in Platinum and what I'm finding is that I feel like I'm walking on glass with it. It crashes constantly from pretty much anything I try to do with it, mostly when I'm loading or using plugins. Is this a common issue or is it just me? I've had it crash probably close to 50 times in the past 24 hours and worst part is, I can't send the damn error report in.

Also, for some reason it randomly rejects my ilok licenses after a crash.

Can you explain please what you do to trigger the crash.
What exactly happens when it crashes any error message?
Have you looked in the windows event viewer?

Right now I suspect a specific plugin. Try ruling them out. You could start by running in Sonar safe mode. Then have a look at your 32 bit plugins first.

There is also a possibility that your audio interface firmware and drivers need updating. Running windows update is also recommended.

    Thanks

There is nothing in particular that causes it. I just get that SONARPLT.exe has stopped working and the Fault Reporter pops up. It can be anything from loading kontakt or Play, loading a Prochannel module to exporting a wav. There is no rhyme or reason to it.

So I would rule things out in this order..

    1. Update interface drivers and firmware
    2. Run windows update.

Some dodgy plugins might start working at this point.

Then turn attention to plugins. If Sonar safe mode works Copy/paste project and start removing plugins until stable. Start with 32 bit.

You might also want to check for updates for your plugins first.

    Cheers..

    Oh another thing.
You might want to try a VST reset in preferences. Then do a rescan. Thanks.

If Platinum is creating dumps, they will be in the minidumps folder in your SONAR Platinum user directory. You can create a ticket by hand and attach a dump to it.

Check for new iLok drivers. I've been sandbagged a few times by having plug-ins that use iLok and not having the latest drivers.

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!

I am having lots of errors that I am forwarding on to the bakers.  I think they are all related to Amplitude which I have always had troubles with.

I've already done most everything mentioned here but I didn't think about iLok drivers. I know there was an update for that I've not yet done because it makes me reboot the computer so I'll give that a try tonight and see how it goes. Hopefully it will be a fix because thus far I'm pretty frustrated. :P

I've not yet done because it makes me reboot the computer

Does this mean the PC is not regularly restarted?
Is the PC rebooted after an application crashes?
Is the PC shutdown or is sleep/hibernate used instead of shutdown?

When running firmware updates/windows updates/driver updates you generally need to restart your machine...?

Shutting down your machine at night and rebooting regularly is always a good idea unless you have the SETI screensaver on or something.

    Anyway Craig's probably onto something...
