[CWBRN-31612] - PRV: Ctrl-/Shift- Click-drag on events in Controller lane not working

I would have expected that if I Ctrl-Drag or Shift-Drag on a group of selected events in a controller lane, I would be able to change the events with either the values or the time position locked.
Ideally:
Ctrl-Click-Drag = scale the values of the selected events, without changing the time
Shift-Click-Drag = move the selected events in time, without changing the values.
Instead, nothing seems to happen - although the mouse pointer icon changes, suggesting that something was supposed to happen:

I have submitted this as bug CWBRN-31612.

    In X3:

    Ctrl+drag copies the selected note/controller.
Shift+drag maintains note/controller time position while changing it's value.
Ctrl+shift+drag scales selected controllers. See if that works in New Sonar as well. If not, then maybe someone goofed?!

This explains my expectations. Thanks! I didn't think to compare with X3.
I did search the latest online documentation last night, but I could not find the page you linked to.
    So, thanks for that.

OK not resolved but reported and issued a number, could you please amend your original post with the CWBRN-31612 number.  This will show others that this has been reported and Cake are aware.

    Thanks.

Is this happening under the Braintree update?

    Thanks.

Yes it's still happening under BrainTree. I didn't expect any change there. I expect it will take a while before the bakers decide how they want this feature to work.

So I was wrong. Sorry about that. Whenever you hold ctrl and drag it duplicates notes/controllers.

    In X3:

    Ctrl+drag duplicates selected notes/controllers.
Shift+drag scales note/controller value while maintaining time position.
Ctrl+shift+drag duplicates notes/controllers and scales their value simultaneously while maintaining time position.

I'm curious, since Velocity handles are different than the rest of the controllers, do they behave the same way when you try to scale them?

Velocity handles do not behave the same way. I mean, velocity editing has been revamped in SONAR 25 and the action of the Shift and Ctrl modifier keys is quite different from previous versions.

Therefore, I don't like comparing the edit behavior of other controller types in SONAR 25 to previous versions, because I expect the behavior to be revamped also, and to be more comparable to how modifier keys work for Velocity, when finally implemented fully.

+1.   I like the way velocity bars are handled in SPlat, and I like the new controller graphics.  There just needs to be a more consistent behavior when using modifier keys.   I have confidence (more than ever) that it will get addressed at some point, probably sooner rather than later given how things are already moving along.

I've noticed in X3e that Velocity Controllers don't even show up when opening a PRV window for the 1st time. The pane is completely blank until opening a 2nd PRV window.

CTRL / Shift with Smart Tool on CCs 2015/03/10 04:45:24 (permalink)

When using the Smart tool to copy or move controllers in the controller pane, pressing the control or shift key will switch the cursor into the velocity scaling/stretching mode. As I understand it, this mode is for velocities only, it's not doing anything on controllers. Hence, control/shift should work as before on controllers with the Smart tool. (Copy/move still works with the Move tool.)
