Gobbler...

Due to one of the other members of my music group switching to Sonar now. I was attempting to finally integrate gobbler into sonar so we could trade projects easier. I was following the instructions on cakewalk to integrate it however on the gobbler website it says its only mac supported? i dont understand.. if sonar is only pc why would it use a mac only cloud storage? Am i missing something?

    I've never used it but from what I've read, Gobbler came and went for Sonar with X3. Here's what Seth from Cake had to say about it:
     
    1. Gobbler dropped their support for Windows users at the end of 2014, a year after SONAR X3 was released. There is currently no Gobbler 2.0 Windows Client. There is only the legacy 1.0 Client.   2. Once Gobbler re-introduces a Windows 2.0 Client, we'll re-introduce a control bar module to sync with the their client.
    3. SONAR X3 still works with the 1.0 client at this time. I would make sure all your files are backed up in a separate location just to be safe.    4. We had to make a decision to include it or not, at a time when Gobbler was still claiming users would lose all their data on December 1st. We didn't want to potentially ship a control bar module that had zero function or was broken.

    Ah thank you. Is there any other cloud storage options that integrate into sonar?

    Nothing integrated per say but if you're using per project audio folders you could upload the project file and the audio folder that goes with it to any server. In the past ftp sites have worked for me.

    +1 Also, if sending to another SONAR user, saving the project as a bundle (.bun) file works well. They have gotten flak in the past by some, but I have never had an issue with them. It is essentially a zipped project with the audio embedded into it.

    Ok Thank you for the responses Ill look into some other storage places. Just was interested in this specific one because i thoughtd it be great to have a cloud storage directly in Sonar.

    Gobbler wasn't that good anyway. It was buggy and the "integrated" part simply opened their client. Their pricing was a joke too. You didn't get much storage with a free account and their pay accounts were outrageously high priced.
     
    I've been using WaveStack.com and couldn't be happier. They are busy making a lot of updates and really want to make a good product.

    Gobbler was a CPU hog.  It constantly ran in the background and seriously affected Sonar's performance.  I complained to Gobbler and all I got was that they were working on it.  I've since switched to Microsoft OneDrive and simply mirror the required directories.  Costs me 99 cents a month!  There are many other options out there.

    I ended up getting an account for a hosted web site through Go Daddy, and I use storage space there to send project folders and such to folks all over.  Much easier, and 24x7 support (though it never breaks).
     
    So, while the concept of Gobbler was OK, in practice they came up short, and I think Cakewalk was wise to drop them while they get things sorted out and ready for prime time.
     
    If it DOES come back, I will give it another fair shake and test it out.  In the meantime, my Go Daddy hosted site does the job nicely.

    For just backing up and sharing projects, I find One Drive to be very useful since it now comes with unlimited storage if you have MS Office 365.
