Although there were definitely differences among the amps, on my iPad they all sounded basically the same with minor EQ changes. They all sounded good to me. Not my thing. But dang good.

Yep, that's a Marshall. What doesn't come through the video is how incredibly loud it must be in that room.

In my experience the amp-to-amp difference is in the feel of the amp. Some feel very tight and percussive while others are more woolly and compressed.

Nobody should have that many Marshall's. Particularly the 100w SLP models.

I think watching that just made my tinnitus worse.

I have friends who modify amps and constantly tweak them, and try, among other things, to recreate very specific sounds - such as EVH's Brown Sound. They're trading schematics and talking in a lingo I barely can make any sense of.

I just love the Marshall sound, you know? If I plug my guitar in and find myself in that ballpark, I can find my way wherever I want from there. Which is why I know I'll probably be okay with the DSL (I have yet to go try one).

Maybe it's heresy, as us guitar players are supposed to be overly anal about our tone.

Me, I can dig all of those amps. At the end, unfortunately, I always sound like myself. :P

DSL-100H?

The Ultra-Gain Lead 1 tone is pretty good.
FWIW, I like that channel better than OD1 or OD2 on the JVM-410.

Regarding "I always sound like myself", that is a saying the truth of which I've heard proven time and time again. Without taking too much away from guitar and amp tone it's been my experience that most real players sound like themselves no matter what rig they happen to be working with. I'm a finger, brain and heart sorta guy.

I thought it sounded like all the speakers were blown.  Good grief, that was fuzzy and fizzy.  That wasn't a Plexi sound.  That was a Silvertone 6x10 with a Hagstrom guitar, too loud in somebody's basement.
