Old Skool Sonar User extremely impressed with Platinum.
The whole thing is seamlessly brilliant for me. Well done bakers......  I have no idea why people were complaining about the new purchasing scheme, seems like you truly get your $s worth, especially for Users that cant afford the full wack upfront. The latest updates were awesome. Command Center is brilliant (I am an NI user so it all makes perfect sense to me) The Midi editing updates for me have been EXACTLY what I have been wanting for years. Maybe this year an OMF update tho?

I've yet to have a real problem with any of it. Most problems I encounter are due to my own inexperience in a given section. I love it.
Some people in some other threads should take note of this. Recognizing that a problem has a good chance of being pilot error encourages people to seek out a solution. When someone has a "horrible" problem that no one else seems to have and they blame SONAR, they won't find the solution because the problem isn't with SONAR. So then they get even more frustrated and double down on how bad SONAR is - because they remain convinced that the problem couldn't possibly be due to them, so the problems must be with SONAR. Unfortunately this isn't unique to SONAR forums, it seems to be a deficiency in human nature. One of the negative aspects of forums is that they provide a venue where people can post without having to think first whether their post has any validity. I'm still waiting for my first SONAR Platinum crash. It's been a little over six weeks, and I've been using the program almost every day for several hours each day. Obviously, I just have a special "lucky" copy of SONAR.

^^ Agree'd. I've had a couple crashes, but its my computers fault not Sonars. My computer was damaged during a shipment so it tends to run funny sometimes. I learn alot just from reading threads. I'll post questions if i don't manage to find the answer through Google or forums. These forums are definitely alot more active and welcoming in my experience than other DAW companies. My questions have usually been answered thoroughly without making me feel stupid. That alone is a damn good reason to purchase Cakewalk products. I've used Sonar for along time (for my age anyways since Sonar 7 Studio when i was about 16). Always been stable and reliable for me through the ages up until being platinum now when im nearly 24 and almost done with contract in the Army. Given my job i have lost discs and serials from moving etc.. and they had no problems assisting me in getting back up in running with replacements and support.
A special shout out I'd like to give (cant remember his name) is to a customer service rep who worked with me while i was in Afghanistan. I was trying to order replacement discs for 8.5 at the time so i could have them waiting for me when i got home ( i was getting ready to come back). I was calling on horrible internet through a skype telephone that was horribly broken and kept trying to drop and pause on me. He stayed on line with me whole time almost talking in Phonetics at times just to get words across. He ensured i got what i needed. This showed me their dedication to their customers.
Good job Bakers. We appreciate you. Also thank you to the forum residents who endlessly answer questions from less knowledgeable users. Ok im off my soap box now.

We were all less knowledgeable users at one point Basically anyone who's not selfish and/or arrogant is treated with respect and courtesy. Come to think of it, even some selfish and arrogant people get a pass. I still have much to learn. I just figured out a new way to do impulses responses for convolution reverb last night. That's what's so much fun about SONAR: It's a toolkit, and you can use those tools in lots of different ways.
