bayoubill's Poor Man's Chord Guide
Sense I Am a "musician", thus low income achiever, I have an easy way to get more mileage on the chord I know. Example: If you discover a cool chord voicing and you love the way it sounds as a say Major type chord When you put a specific bass note under the cool chord voicing you get a whole new sound out of the cool chord voicing Say I play the notes B (D string/9th fret) F# (G string/11th fret) G (B string/8th fret) D (E string/10th fret) This chord voicing equals = 1.GMaj7 sound or 2.Emin7 sound or 3. A7 sound or 4. Db half diminished sound 5. Eb7alt sound Sense I only know music in Am I now know a new CMaj7#11 / Amin7/ D7 / Gb half diminished/ Ab7 alt chord!

Speaking of your favorite lick...yours can be used with the above also.

Play it with a CMaj7#11 then D7 then Gb half diminished then Ab7 alt chord then an E Aeolian vamp then B Phrygian etc.

It's at this point, Bill, that you don't want to be standing too close to that crash cymbal. Digging the shrapnel out can waste valuable rehearsal time and the keyboardist's mom has to pick him up early for a dentist's appointment.

Mesh - It helps come up with voicings most guitar players wouldn't normally use. Like BbMaj7 voicing for a E half diminished voicing going to A 7alt. I'm mostly speaking about those chords that have a unique sound on guitar. Like some open string chords
