How do you all control the tail end of your synth?

I notice sometimes I hit the notes in Hybrid 3 but when I let go it just keeps going on for too long. I was curious as to what techniques you all use to control the tail end of your synths and virtual instruments.
Do you all just manually mute or do you take down some settings?

Volume automation envelopes, usually.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Interesting, is there any other techniques I should know about?

in hybrid 3 you can reduce the release time in the amplifier envelope, also reduce the length of the synth's reverb tail.

Swamptooths got the best answer here.  Volume automation overcomplicates it.  If you can adjust your synth's ADSR parameters you can shape the volume envelope the way you want and control the tails.

Voices are another way to cut tails when they smear into other notes.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

reduce the length of the synth's reverb tail.

And don't overlook delay with feedback.  A lot of synth patches will use that.  If so, reduce the feedback to make the sound reduce to silence more quickly.
