BPPV...

Wow. cbow woke up with vertigo this morning. It seems to be something called BBPV, after reading the internets. She is REALLY busy right now so send prayers or mojo.. we will take either... good thoughts welcomed too! I'm taking her to the doctor in about an hour.. will report back. Getting older is so much fun. We did have fun last night though, a few beers, grilled chicken and potatoes, then Spotify on the porch until nearly 10:00... (a big night for us)!! LOL.

Thanks!

Julien

Sounds like a good night, you sure it's not just a hangover?

    Best wishes your way.

IIRC, my wife suffered from BBPV - or something similar a few years ago in NY. You can imagine the consequences for someone who's job is to sing suspended in the air, head first, spinning and kicking...

Among other things, doctor had put her on a very low sodium diet for a while.

Even if I'm used to being very mindful of my sodium intake and haven't used a salt shaker in over a decade found it incredibly hard to keep up with this diet. But I learned a few recipes I'm still using.

She's had one or two short episodes after that, but nothing as serious as that one time.

I think the one doctor who finally got her rid of it had her do some very simple positioning exercises. Almost seemed too good and too ridiculously simple to be true, but it worked in no time.

Thanks all... we went to the doctor. He confirmed that it is BPPV, showed her the exercises and prescribed some antivert but when we got home she laid down and turned over, it's gone.. I hope for good! She was scared and I don't like that.
Thank you for your kindness in thought, prayer, and mojo. She is napping now and I just had a cup of tea.... I don't do naps, heck... come to think of it I don't do much at all, except for the grocery shopping, house cleaning, cooking, dishes, clothes washing (except for her clothes). She works hard this time of year though and is the most awesome "drunkard's dream"... now if I could just become a drunkard I'd be SET!

    Thanks again!

You would know. Persoally, I rarely get hangovers because I rarely drink. Wifey likes her wine. I like to drink a 6-pack about once a month but I have to cut back on my drug use to do that so... eh. What???

My wife has had a few vertigo attacks over the years, fortunately they are infrequent, but they are very debilitating and unpleasant when they do occur. There is medication that helps if you take it early enough assuming you get warning signs an attack my be due.

She is getting better. The Anti-vert knocked her out for nearly 24 hours. We are beginning to suspect that this was caused by our insurance. They did not want to pay for a med that works until she tries three others. This first one has vertigo and several kinds of cancer as side effects and she has cancer in both sides of her family and in fact just had a melanoma removed a couple months ago... so, we are going to fill the other meds, use samples we got from the doctor of the meds that works and then appear to have jumped through their hoops. They are arse hats!
I had to take her to work this AM and pick her up but I got to go out to dinner in the deal!!

I hope she continues to improve. Thanks for caring...

Your insurers are forcing you to use other meds before they'll pay for ones that work?  Really?  That's madness
