Large WAV files after export

Hello Guys,

I'm working on Sonar LE X1 and finished working on an audio track. But after exporting the file to .wav format, the exported file size of my track is appx 50Mb. It has 7 synth tracks, one MIDI track (empty) and one Audio track (empty) - altogether 9 tracks.

Length of the track - 2 Minutes 24 Seconds
Bit depth - 24
Sampling Rate - 44100
Buffer playback queue - 4
Buffer Size - 10msec, 441 samples

I'm a bit lost at this one because 50Mb for a 2.5 minute audio track is way too large.

    Is the run length of the export correct?
    How large a file were you expecting?

    The length of the wav file exported is same as the length of the project (i.e 2 Min 24 Secs).
    Even if the project is exported to WAV format, is there a way to make it of smaller size in the exporting process?

    The size of a stereo WAV is the product of ((Sample Rate x Bit Depth) X 2 Channels for Stereo) x Runtime. If you want a smaller WAV you will need to adjust those values or export a different format. Maybe export 16bit (don't forget to using dithering when reducing bit depth).

    At 24/44.1 you can expect about 15MB to 16MB per minute for two-track audio (give or take).  It doesn't matter how big the project is (ie. how many tracks you have in the project) because you're mixing it all down to two tracks (stereo) anyway.
     
    So 50MB doesn't seem too far off for your project.

    What is the concern with size, sharing the file?

    Roughly wav files (lossless) are 8MB per minute per channel (stereo has two) as mentioned above, so your file size sounds accurate.

    For sharing purposes, you can convert that wav file to an mp3 (lossy format). 160 mp3 sample rate or so is about 1-1.5 MB/ min, which is why that format is so popular - CD songs become roughly 10 times smaller.
