X3 Speed Comp Help Needed

Hey Folks

This is my first time trying to use the speed comp feature and so far I've read the online help and watched a YouTube video and I must be missing a step or two.

What happens after I set up the track is when I press shift+space the track is soloed. There are no tracks set to be soloed and the green S is not on anywhere.

Also, when I press the down cursor arrow, instead of going to the next take lane in the track, it goes to the next track.

I don't have any of the take lanes muted or silenced. I just selected the first section with the Smart tool, not every section.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Stephen

Do you have the lanes visible on the track, i.e. expanded? Also make sure that the track you are comping is the "in focus" track.

Once you have started the process the cursor should navigate the clips in the track.

The other important thing is the tracks should have been recorded in "Comping" mode. That sets up the starting state for you. If comping mode wasn't used, all but one of the takes should be muted, that's the clips *not* the lanes. You can of course do that manually but it is easier using the comping record mode.

Just to add....  Shift+Spacebar solos the selected clip, not the track, and does work outside of Speed Comping.  It's been available for a few versions now and is definitely a nice feature on its own.

Thanks guys. I was able to get it to work. I had muted the lanes and didn't understand that I need to have all clips muted (K).

I'm not sure how to utilize the arrow keys to jump from clip to clip and section to section without using the shift+space, but if I have the solo set to dim, it works out great.

I appreciate it.
