Having trouble setting up audio track to record

Im new to Sonar Platinum and trying to run my Maschine Studio through it as
a audio source.. See screen shot of how I have it setup currently.

I inserted the Maschine VST as shown on first track (Simple Instrument track selected from dialog box that popped up)
I then inserted a audio track, set it to R but when I play and hit Record, nothing gets recorded to the 2nd audio
track..
I need someone to advise me what I'm doing wrong here.
