is there an upgrade price break to mc 7 if you own sonor x1 producer?

i want to purchase music creator 7 (i need to basically learn what i'm doing in a daw. something simple!) i own sonar x1 producer, but it's over my head and i wanted to go with something  less intimidating.  i was wondering if there is a discount path to purchasing mc 7 if you own a sonar product? thanks.

Everyone gets a discount, the MC7 is $20 in the cart at the Cakewalk store.

Yes, by definition I believe it is. The product is carries a $50 retail price tag which is discounted to $20 in the cart at the store. It is not a special discount for X1 owners though.

Go to the Cakewalk from the home page and click the buy now button under MC7. It will add the product to your cart and display the cart at the same time.

You might have missed the special discount pricing..... But... it's still a great price and worth the cost.

Sorry scook - it was just a poor attempt at humor...

the special is not over, I went to the cakewalk store just now myself and clicked on "BUY IT NOW" and it comes up at $19.99.

but make sure you're logged in to your account where you have your Sonar registered.  IIRC, this is a special for anyone who has any registered products of cakewalk.  so in that case, if you are not a prior registered customer, you'd get the regular price of $49.99

Carllackey, you may get disappointed if you expect some kind of clear step towards simplicity in MC7 compared to SONAR.
All the basic functions/principles are about the same, MC7 just has less of VSTs  and has some limitations
regarding simultaneous inputs etc. The basic recording of audio or MIDI/softsynths and editing and mixing are done in a similar way.  AFAIK, in order to get your vocals or guitar on the track there's not one single button less to press or slider to move in the other compared to the other. And that goes practically to all DAWs. It's in the more advanced features (which entry level DAWs don't usually have) that differences in workflows and VST sets makes somebody prefer one DAW to another.
If it only was possible to hide half of SONARs drop down windows and buttons, it would be practically the same usabilitywise as MC7. The most important thing is that your audio interface has good drivers.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.
