Nice job ! Really like the song and performance. The recording is nice and clean and those Melodyne harmonies sound pretty good. My only suggestion would be if you could bring out the bottom end on the percs I think it would warm up the mix and compliment the high end of the guitar better, IMHO. This is a suggestion not a criticism because it sounds really great as is.

Very nice song, Glenn.  It seems to be played well and the singing is nice.  It just seems to be too "bright" to me.  The mix of the instruments and vocal firts nicely and I love the tune.  It could just be a personal thing but I'd like to hear a bit more depth.  I hope that makes some sense.

Thanks guys. It could well be it's too bright as I do have tinnitus and damaged high and low ends. I can only hear 50 to about 8000.
Depth, I'm not sure how to do.

Yeah, I have those things too.  How could either one of us get it right?   I would go by some of the other guys up here.  A good tune, though, no matter how bad the ears are!

Nice tune and it's well performed, but I think the mix still needs some work.  The acoustic guitar sounded very bright to me, and the percussion did need more bottom as previously noted.  Overall it still sounded quite good though.

Wouldn't be too bright if you had a bass and add a deeper kick.

Glen, I've listened to you for several years.  Each new song you post just gets better by leaps and bounds.  This song is top notch, to say the least.  The lyrics are right on, and your vocals are sung with feeling which makes this song rise above the paint-by-numbers crowd.  I like the separation of the guitars and the subtle use of reverb(?) which gives the second mix more depth than the first one.  I think everything is EQ'd well and quite natural sounding.  My only suggestions would be to raise the volume of the bass line to just under the acoustics or the lead vocal, and pan the strings more toward the center so that they might be heard better.  The overall percussion could possibly come up a notch or two.  Otherwise, this is stellar.

    All the best,
    Lynn

Firstly, a great song it is! Your lyrics wrap around the arrangement very nicely. Your singing has plenty of actual conviction and emotion.

Mix-wise, the first thing I noticed is the phasey acoustic guitars. Is this comb filtering? Did you copy a part and then shift it around a little?

I'd bring the drums up - but the phaseyness extends to the hi hat as well. Is this a Soundcloud de-resolutuinizing down to 128mp3? It kind of sounds like 22. If that makes sense.

Still a great song shines through!

    cheers,
    -Tom

Thanks very much for taking the extra time Tom.
I'll have to think on the phasey issue as I didn't copy any tracks but played a second track along with the first.
Interesting on the cross track phase vs Soundcloud as this seems more likely knowing the above.
I'll have to try the option of rendering directly to soundcloud from Sonar to see if that fixes it.
    Thanks again.

Nice song!   I really liked the lyrics + melody, and the instrumentation supports it well.   Sounds fairly balanced here, with a good amount of punch for an acoustic based tune.
