Something Cakewalk can learn about?
i have not tried it. just seen the movie. but it seems like the one thing cakewalk is missing in its program list. this is what touch is all about. http://www.staffpad.net/ and it must be on windows.

That does look cool, but why are they using the Windows Store? Why wouldn't you want the greatest amount of people to run your software? Building it for Win8 exclusively seems bizarre. They give an answer on their site about Win8 being the only OS that supports meaningful pen input, but that can't be right. Graphics programs in every modern OS have been supporting pressure sensitivity and all the other features of pens for many years now.

Looks great! $50 introductory price in the windows store. I just upgraded my Notion 4 to 5 and bought the iPad version. Kind of kicking myself. This might be a cool integration into Sonar if it were feasible to do. Would leapfrog some developmental iterations and bring cake's touch technology up a few notches too. I like the active pen technology and imagine it would be great for editing automation, midi entry (prv) tempo maps, etc.

Looks pretty incredible. Wonder how well it would work inside Sonar. I've been looking at tablet options at the moment and I'm torn between an Android or Windows tablet. I keep leaning towards Android because I already have a lot of apps for it (TouchOSC is amazing) and because of cost. The only Windows tablet I've seen that I liked using Windows was Surface Pro but they start at $800 for 64gig. That's not much when running a full version of Windows. Plus, the Windows App store is a bit of a joke. :(

I don't get all the love for Apple. I own an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4S. The bastards stop supporting old OS's once you make the mistake of upgrading as they try to keep all of their devices on the same OS. The problem is my iPad keeps losing its ability to connect (it's wifi only), and my iPhone can't connect to wifi anymore at all. There are all sorts of similar complaints all over the web but when you speak up about it on any forum, the Apple lovers jump all over insisting you're a troll or an Android user (which I am too - I have a galaxy tab 3 which just works, period). Apple doesn't let you roll your operating system back - it is no longer available. Unbelievable. There should be a class action suit against this sort of crap. Even looking at the Cakewalk Instruments forums, I am shocked at the number of people mad at Cakewalk for the fact that Apple broke z3ta2 with one of their OS upgrades. NOBODY is pissed at Apple despite the fact that they broke it (I am not supporting cake, as this has been going on a long time, etc). But fair is fair. I would never, ever, ever (again) buy an apple anything. Just my highly biased opinion, I know. Re android, I have the fl mobile studio, and a couple of other things on my Samsung, it's ok, but latency is a common issue that is still a big limitation compared to the iPad. I think the windows tabs would be the way to go all else being equal, but ya, the price stings.

Price and lack of apps is my issue. Most developers focus on either IOS or Android and forget that WinMo is a thing. Even with the Surface Pro using an actual Windows OS rather than WinMo, there aren't many apps you can use that are developed for Windows to be used as a mobile device. It's a real toss up. :\

Ya i understand. Apple is definitely the leader here. Not even close. I wish it wasn't this way because i think they are despicable. I guess my hope is that something like this app may lead the change, even though it's a bit of a niche product. The touted pen technology however may be a bit of a differentiator (don't know much about how it's different). Especially if the apps are portable to pc's running touchscreen on windows 8. if i bought this it would be to run in my daw in windows 8 with touch screen, and presumably, a pen.

How do you like it? I take it that there is no rewire capability?

I could run that on my Lenova Yoga 2, it folds into a tablet. I wonder how I'd link it up with my desktop DAW though. Perhaps through the router? It's worth reading the reviews because there are some complaints about it. Currently $70 by the way. On second thoughts, I've never had much luck with any kind of "recognition" software. Freaking Siri can't understand a word I'm saying and all the handwriting recognition apps I've tried have gotten things hysterically wrong (even though I have very neat writing). So although this looks great, I can see myself getting frustrated with it.

I have been playing with it for a some hours. And you have to watch the intro video before starting up. You can't just write something, you have to learn writing the way they tell you in the video. That said. I think this is a great workhorse of a writing tool. When you get the writing and understand the tools its easy. One thing tho, is that there is in app purchase of different instruments. And the church organ ones not have a pedal line. Of what I could se at last. So if you are making organ works with 4 voices and pedal, its doomed to be messy. This is maybe something they are working on. With my Surface pro I don't hear much of the playback ether. There should be a mixer of sort. One other thing is tempo. Where is the tempo setting?
